What you just saw was the official trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens. Not much is needed to say, because the tailer speaks for itself. What do you guys think about the future of this franchise?

I thought it looked promising. I just hope they do not not butcher the series with this new trilogy. 

All I know is I'm gonna go see it, but I still wish Lucas would of finished the series and then sold it off. I'm just praying it's not gonna be horrible. Just remember they only show what looks good in trailers to suck you in.

Name one movie that J.J. Abrams has been associated with that is no good. I'm actually kind of glad Lucas sold it to Disney. The trailer looks awesome and the original cast all signed on... I think it will be epic.

Does anyone know if Lucas will be co-directing with Abrams or no? Anyway, I am super excited for the new movie. I just wish it was coming out earlier than almost next year. I hope this movie is a nice answering of any questions fans had.

Animoid : from what I've heard, part of the deal with Disney was that he has a say in the series, kind of like an advisory role. However, I could be wrong, so don't quote me on that. I do know that they are going to him for advice. I mean, why wouldn't they? 40 year old series that is this man's bread and butter. 

It is what it is.There will people who love the new movies and hate them etc. I personally had my heart skip a beat when I saw the new trailer yesterday. I had no clue that one was about to drop to the public. I really liked that land vehicle that chick was riding on. I'm super excited and will be seeing it (unless I'm dead) opening weekend next year.

Animoid : He won't be directing, though that isn't much of a surprise since he only directed 4 of the originl 6, not all of them. He will be writing it though, which is just as good.

I have to say the future of this franchise seems pretty grey to me. In the hands of Disney it could go well all things considered as their dip into scifi has not been ungraceful...most notably Tron: Legacy which was an excellent run and addition to that series. Also, they are not so stuck on whats socially acceptable. They take in what they feel may be best for overall when it comes to some content. I can't say I've ever heard Disney overexpose either though Disney movies are decidedly Disney movies. Ultimately in the end I believe it will be more of a toss up though and maybe this franchise will end up in a different studio once they complete this run if it is to continue. I'm not really a part of Star Wars fandom anymore though I do engage in convo and it is my hope regardless of this that it continue on in movies and books though there is the seperation there, as I feel all stories, regardless of their beginnings and endings, should enjoy the limitless capability they have to be told. Thats about all I can say, though that is my point of view. Thanks for bringing this topic up.

I think this movie will be huge. Regardless of whether or not it ends up being liked by the fan base they will all end up dressed up and waiting in line to see it. This trailer fills me with mixed emotions. It makes me exited and yet scares me. For one I am not a fan of the tri-bladed lightsaber, I don't think I am alone on this issue. Changing things just to change them is what cause so much upset in the movies in the first place. Abrams will really have to sell me on the necessity of this new weapon configuration for me to be happy.
   As a whole the trailer seems to start in an attempt to create a darker tone and then suddenly switches direction and tries to highlight some attempt at  humor. I think to much was put into such a short trailer and they should have attempted to focus in on just one aspect of the film. I just hope that there full length trailer is better. Can't wait to see it.

The trailer itself is nothing to jump for joy about, but it's not like I need that to be totally hyped about a new Star Wars movie.

You say the trailer speaks for itself, but that's just the problem. It doesn't. The trailer really doesn't say much of anything other than "Star Wars is here." I'm looking forward to the movie, but I really wish the trailer told us a little more. Here's to hoping they don't mess up Star Wars for good!
