*Sigh*

Well hello there dearies.Apologies,i'm not exactly happy. In fact,i'm quite derpressed. Why? I'll tell you why. (Like you care)
For those who don't know, the Naruto Manga is coming to a close,on November 10th.Due to this news,i have been a freaking wreck.I spent 2 days locked up in my house, listing to the old Naruto opening themes.
And you can see my full reactions here.

"...NNNOOOOOO! NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOO!
Wait,Naruto! All  the things i have said, how you are such a mediocre show, how you have been running for to long! ITS A LIE! I need you! PLEASE DON"T LEAVE!

And Sasuke.Remember how i said you're a completely flawed character?! IT WAS A LIE,I NEED YOU TO!

Sasuke : Sorry buddy, but it looks like my days are numbered.

BUT YOU'RE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF MY CHILDHOOD!

Sasuke: Don't worry.I'll always be with you,in here *Places hand over my heart*

NO! PLEASE DON"T LEAVE! *Vanishes into thin air*

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! *sobs*

My god..He's gone...In honor of his memory,i will try to get a layout of him."

THE PAIN! But to cause myself even more emotional harm,i would like to talk to you guys about a specific character.Sasuke Uchiha.

You know, the Emo teen, who can create some of the best memes ever!

HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAA! Oh god,i love this one!

Anyway back to the point. In this discussion,i wanted to talk about Sasuke, and what makes him such a flawed character. Now why is he such a flawed character? Allow me to explain.

You see, sasuke is a fundamentally confused character. He honestly does not know what he wants, and when he thinks that he does, his thoughts change again. Now some may see this as a strength to the character, and i will admit, for the first few parts of the series,i agree. However,to much of the medicine that heals you, will kill you.Even when i was a kid,and sasuke was my favorite character ever,i could notice that alot of his actions did not make much sense.

The best way to describe him is this:Blind Passion. He is complete, blind passion. He lets his emotions control him.And as level headed as he appears to be,he is actually very emotionally flawed.Only 2/4th's of his actions (In my opinion) Are justified.
And to be honest..Alot of characters in Naruto suffer from flaws similar to this.Take Sakura for instance, her flaw was that she thought she was useless,so in part 2 she decided to get stronger. And to her credit, for a brief time, she was.
However, right after her fight with Sasori was finished, she went right back to being a supporting character. In fact..You wan't to know who my favorite character in the series is?

Gaara.

Gaara in my opinion, has always been the smartest, the most justified, the most well written, and the most understandable character in the series. And after reading volumes 1-60 again for the past 2 months(Oh god..I miss color so much,i long for my comic days again.),i am even more confident in my statement.

You want to know why in the original series,he can get away with hating everyone, and caring about only himself? IT'S BECAUSE HE ACTUALLY HAS A FREAKING REASON TO! Everyone thinks of him as a monster,a fiend,a demon,a Devil.Any other word you can think of.

And instead of telling them. "No,i am not.I am a human Being." He didn't,because his will was completely broken.Instead of fighting it,he embraced it.He was completely, emotionally broken. And when he sided with Naruto, that made me like him even more.He came out of his shell, and he realized that he was human. He slowly gained the trust of everyone. And you wan't to know what makes me love this character even more?

He still remains a good character, when his original concept has been destroyed. This is something Sasuke did not accomplish,in my opinion.

Gaara's original concept, revolved around hating everyone.Living only for himself, loving only himself. And the reason for this has already been justified. But after Naruto came in,and shattered that idea to pieces,he still remains a very good character. In fact,in my eyes, this makes him even better.

However,Sasuke's concept is a bit more tricky. His idea revolved around his brother, and trying to avenge his family, and clan. This is the foundation he was built upon, that lasted for years.Once he finally killed his brother..Well,he became a void full of emotions. He became even more whiny then before.

It's almost as if he has no reason for even existing now.Sure,he has helped out with story. And he is still, technically an essential character. But he seems to have no personality anymore. He hasn't exactly went into plot device character territory yet.But based on the way things are going now..I don't think this will turn out well. And in all honesty,i wish Sasuke should have just died with his brother.

Yes,alot of important things would not be revealed if Sasuke would have died with his brother. But i PROMISE YOU! Nearly everything that has been explained, would have been explained in a different way. While i do love Masashi Kishimoto alot, his biggest problem with stories has always been this:He explains WAY to much stuff than necessary.Prime example,Filler episodes (And yes, that is only made because Viz media forces filler episodes to be created, but he does come up with the stories for them.)

But even after all of these flaws, all of this analyzation,i still don't hate Sasuke. In fact,i love him.I grew up with him,and no matter how much crap he goes through,he will always be my SECOND favorite Naruto character. And to end this discussion,i would like to ask you-the reader,a question.

What do you think of Sasukes character, and what is your opinion on him. Also, perhaps you can tell me what your favorite naruto character is,and why.Anyway that's it for me.I'm gonna go pre order the last manga volume while i can.NOVEMBER 10TH,HERE I COME!

You know,if toph was a bit older..This would be the best couple ever!..NOW FIGHT TO THE DEATH! HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAA!

Sasuke.....You've point out most of the reason as of why he is, who he is. To be honest I stopped liking the guy long ago. To me hes become whinny and stuff for no reason. Sure hes powerful and whatever. But, to leave the village to do his own thing so that he can get *stronger* I don't see the sense. Also as of why he got bitten too, by you know who. He should had made the best, to control it himself. Its really his fault to begin with, as of now. in what position that he is currently in. sasuke was a good character before really he was. He should had seek help instead of judging and going off to do things, that was way out in a way. For instance he should had done what garaa did.

To be honest my fav before WAS sakura. I'm not going to lie about that. I liked her for a bit until I notice she wasn't the fighter that she was meant to be. Everywhere I go onto, I hear people calling her that same name *useless* I wouldn't say in all that she is. In SOME areas she has proved a little of herself to be much more stronger. Then at times she would fail again which was annoying. I find it annoying how she chased after saskue for this long with her *lingering* feelings for him. whats there now to like about him? Oh sure in the looks area every girl faints with this. As for me its about personality. hes one is screwed up and confused badly. I don't really support saskue. Even if people say oh, hes so cool! Then I ask whats so cool about him?

If they say about his jutsu techniques then, that is ok for me. I mean who wouldn't like him doing chidori? That more is so awesome and that I can vouch for. And as you sad about gaara. yes....poor guy I felt sorry for him, as I knew too he had a reason....but, people helped him to become stronger. That got him out of that, long depression that he was in. I can say most people love garaa, now him and naruto are best buddies. I cried when I saw that episode. I was happy for gaara because he has been suffering for so long, too long. And he deserves that much praise. Which sasuke on the other hand, proves pointless in where he stands.

My fav character will have to be naruto. Yes....I know people will say don't you have any other characters to choose apart from him? Nope. I adore him since day one. I didn't know that, before I knew it I grew to love naruto because of who he was and what he was. And also for what he did as well. Like how he helped changed so many lives. And also that one episode when the village finally....finally accepts him. That. Made me to cry....including the soundtrack which was played behind it....

I'm going to be honest...I am really sad that Naruto is coming to an end...but, please understand. Crying about it is not the best way to go around....think of the journey, that you and the anime had when you first watched it. Be happy for it in a way....I know its hard, but you will have to learn to accept this ok? I'm going to summon 2 people, who I know would want to give their thoughts to this type of thread.

I don't hate saskue, but I find it stupid that he let his personality go the wrong way.

Eniitan : Thanks for replying! Its nice to see someone write a comment that's..Almost as long as my post. (Carpal tunnel for days..) Also,i was really sad when i heard that the series was ending,but..I think i have accepted it now.I guess if you get to the point where you are at 70 volumes, you may need to end by now.(I'm looking at you one piece..) But i'm actually happy the story is ending

However..I don't think the ending is going to go well.In Shonen Jump Magazine (The Magazine for Shonen manga.) The writer has said multiple times, that he does not know how to resolve everything. And its quite obvious to see that in his work.I'm certain there are not going to be alot of plot holes with the ending though. As i have said before,Masashi Kishimoto's biggest problem, has always been him explaining to much stuff. But i'll just hope he knows what hes doing. But since Naruto is one of the few manga that release weekly, perhaps he will have time to wrap everything up?

I'm also quite interested to see how the anime world will react, with the fall of one of the "Big Three" I may need to make a discussion on that later.

Now i await November 10TH! Guess i'll play my old Pokemon games to pass the time! Or i'll subscribe to world of warcraft again..

Honestly I feel like Sasuke has just had it rough from the very beginning and that is why he is the way he is now. I think that he is perhaps one of the more accurate reflections of what people are actually like in reality. I know most people would like to consider themselves like Naruto being the type that never gives up, is always happy no matter what, makes friends super easy and never gets defeated, but I think Sasuke represents people a bit better  I'm not saying that we don't all have our Naruto moments, but can you honestly say that you've never once wished for revenge on someone? Wished to get back at someone for what they did to you? Seriously, if your entirely family and everyone precious was killed, wouldn't you want to get to the bottom of it and get revenge on the person responsible? And then after killing Itachi, he finds out that all he wanted was to protect Sasuke and he fought for the leaf village.....that's a lot of stress on one person, and you would have to have a lot of self control and discipline not to go crazy and get revenge on someone. Another thing I don't like is that everyone always labels Sasuke as emo, going back to my point before, if you were always in the shadow of your older brother who was amazing at everything, and then you lose everything precious to you, I think it would be safe to say that most of us would just snap at that point. As much as I like Naruto's character, I think his personality is just a bit unrealistic, no matter how beat up he gets or how bad the situation gets, he always somehow manages to win....seriously? I don't think it should always work out like that, but that's just me.

Now I'm not saying that I completely agree with Sasuke's ways of obtaining power, and I'm not saying he's flawless, but I think people should have a more open view of his character before jumping in and saying he is a jerk or emo or whatever else. I think that if things didn't go so wrong for him, he could've turned out a lot different. About Sasuke being gay, I don't really have a lot to say about that, so what if he's not interested in anyone, big deal, Sakura is pretty useless and after a while I would get tired of girls throwing themselves at me for no reason, especially when a character like Sasuke has a lot going on his mind.

In a way, I can kind of admire Sasuke, I've noticed people say that he is overpowered and he just spams his sharingan, well the same could be said for naruto always using the nine tails and making a million shadow clones all the time. But that is beside the point....I just feel like Sasuke is one of those complex characters that people judge before understanding them...I can relate because I am a lot like Sasuke personality wise, quiet, observant, calm, etc, except I don't try to kill my friends or anything. I hope that after saying this people will try to have a more open mind about him as a character....

I would argue Sasuke is an intentionally flawed character. It is in his nature to be flawed. Psychological trauma does that to people, and people often call these people out for being strange or confused characters, and forget to look at the root of the issue.

Let's backtrack a bit.

Sasuke's entire purpose for the first half of the time we know him is to kill his older brother Itachi, because Itachi killed the entire clan. We are told this makes him an avenger, and it paints the picture that Sasuke is an anti-hero, and Itachi is a cold calculating villain.

Later, we learn that Itachi killed the Uchiha because he was basically ordered to by the Hidden Leaf Village. This was all done to prevent a brutal civil War of attrition between the Uchiha (and potentially a small clan here or there) and the Hidden Leaf Village. Not only did this have the desired effect of preventing the Uchiha uprising (which was completely stupid and not Itachi or Sasuke's fault) but it also resulted in Sasuke being left alive by request of Itachi.

Of course, the thing is, no one told Sasuke (why would they, he wouldn't understand. And thanks to the Curse of Hatred, he probably would have strived to kill the Hidden Leaf rather than Itachi) so he grew to not only hate Itachi, but suffer, from his point of view, intense psychological trauma which became the root of his issues.

Fast forward more. Sasuke learns the "truth" from Tobi (Obito Uchiha), and then vows to shift his avenging ways from killing Itachi (which he successfully did, sort of, although Itachi basically let Sasuke kill him, but not before doing one final favor and ridding Sasuke of Orochimaru) to destroying the Hidden Leaf Village, confirming what we already knew... that telling Sasuke what really happened would have set him down that path.

Of course, Sasuke is by this point an intelligent 16/17 year old, even if he is blinded by the Curse of Hatred.

On his way to destroy the Leaf, he is put in a situation where he has to team with his deceased, but revived, brother. Itachi and Sasuke work together to stop Kabuto, and to end the Impure World Reincarnation Technique (thereby becoming heroes, as a war of attrition would have continued, and extended the length of the Fourth Shinobi World War).

It is at this point that Sasuke wonders what it really means to be a shinobi. He questions why Itachi would choose to lose everything for the sake of both the Leaf, and for him, Sasuke. Before deciding that he must destroy the Hidden Leaf Village, he makes the best decision he has made over the course of the series. He decides to go talk to the Hokage. The dead ones that is.

He goes about reviving Orochimaru to accomplish this (who had to unseal the Hokage through the Dead Demon Consuming Seal) and listens to the past Hokage (First, Second, Third, and Fourth) and asks them what it means to be a shinobi.

It is at this point we see the turn, of Sasuke from "confused anti-villain" to "resolved anti-hero". Sasuke decides Itachi was correct the whole time, and to stand for what Itachi stood for. But to do it in a way that would allow the world to change. He resolves to become Hokage (in what is the most startling development of Shippuden at this point in time) to change the world so that no more Itachis have to sacrifice everything for everyone.

Not much more happens for a long time, as there is a war to fight.

Below are spoilers for anything "after" the Infinite Tsukuyomi Arc. If you do not wish to read these spoilers, scroll down to where I have an underline that says "spoilers end".

Sasuke is presently fighting Naruto. The fight with Kaguya is over, and all that's left is to undo the Infinite Tsukuyomi... which only Sasuke can do.

But first, Sasuke and Naruto have to butt heads one last time, though this time it is far more important and meaningful. They have their way of the ninja to follow, and they conflict.

It looks like Naruto might finally break through to Sasuke, and Sasuke might finally break through to Naruto. The last chapter so far ends with Sasuke saying that "they are no longer children, so they should be able to understand each other."

Spoilers End

From what I've seen of Sasuke, these are all things he would rationally do in this position. He is "flawed", but it is because his character needs to be flawed. If he were not flawed, there would be no conflict, and the story would have already ended.

He's a conflicted individual, who has gone from hating Itachi, to hating the Leaf, to loving Itachi AND the Leaf, to hating Naruto, but not really hating Naruto, and is all turned around as to what he needs to do.

The Curse of Hatred appears to be broken, or about to break. And Sasuke is to praise. He may be flawed, but he is showing actual improvement in his overall character. He won't be winning many "Citizen of the Year Awards" but he is growing as a person. Flawed or not.

Razor-987:While i do understand where Sasuke is coming from,i really, really do,i honestly think its time for him to..Well i hate saying this, but "Shut up,and move on."

I'm sorry, but i honestly think that all the stuff hes been through, should have made him weaker,or stronger. And its been proven time, and time again in the series, that characters with similar past (Naruto,Gaara.) Can move past there pain, and become stronger people because of it.And i will say that in the later volumes,Sasuke is actually starting to do that, and impress me as a character. It seems after over 60 volumes,he is finally changing for the better.

What i don't approve of,however,is how we was before this. His motivations do make sense, but the way he explains, and executes them are just..Ugh.There's also the fact that he complains about stuff he does not have, and things he said he could never achieve.

"I want to avenge my family by killing my brother." You just did that.

"I want more power to crush Konoha." You may be one of the strongest characters in the show,at this point.

"After finding out what my brother really meant,i'm going to help Konoha, and change it for the better." What are you, freaking Lelouch? Anyway, you are now doing that.Happy?

"I'm going to become Hokage!".....

The point is,i don't understand why Sasuke gets a free pass for being a "I hate the world." Character, when other characters who have been hurt by the world in similar ways, have moved on.But i'm starting to like him again,it appears that he is finally moving on.All i can do is not that there is not yet ANOTHER back track in character development, which will screw him over again.

relinquish22: I understand that he probably should've moved on already, if it were me, I don't think I could hold that much hatred for so long and I would eventually just get over it. But the way they Kishimoto made it was so that there would be conflict as leggy said....if that wasn't the case, then you would have two strong characters on the antagonist side and it would be boring. I know that Gaara and Naruto have suffered similar pasts, but then again Sasuke is bound by the Curse of Hatred, so getting his revenge was more than likely inevitable. Plus I think his life was even worse than the others believe it or not...

As the 3rd hokage pointed out, if Sasuke found out that the hidden leaf killed his clan, then he would grow up with a resentment towards the hidden leaf, thus why Itachi had to do it.

In the end though, I'm really glad that Sasuke finally changed a bit and decided to protect the leaf village his brother fought so hard to protect. Other than that, there's really nothing else to say about it since leggy pretty much summed up Sasuke's entire life.
