It's no secret that Mario is the best-selling video game series of all time. On just about every console he's been on, his games have dominated sales for that console (except for Pokemon). And this begs the question. Which Mario games are the best?

For me it's Super Mario Galaxy. That game has an incredible atmosphere (get it?) and great gameplay that takes every complaint I have about the other 3D platformers and utterly DESTROYS it. Along with a great soundtrack, the graphical design also takes a turn for the astonishing, at least by the standards of the Wii. Anyways, what do you think?

I'd say Super Mario World. It's really fun to play, it's easy to pick up and play, and has a catchy soundtrack (sure, it's a remix of one tune, but I still think it's good. In fact, the same thing happens with No More Heroes, and to an extent, Fire Emblem: Awakening. Most of the songs are just one song remixed a bunch of times, but I still think that they are wonderful soundtracks.)

Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario Bros 3, and of course the original Super Mario Bros are awesome, I love these games, now I could also throw in Super Mario Bros 2, but that is also a ripoff/sprite change of Doki Doki Panic, because I really enjoy the American version of SMB2. It's a fun game, and a little bit difficult at times.

Honestly, I loved the Paper Mario series, but my favorite is The Thousand-Year Door. All the partners and NPCs were so unique and were fun to interact it, and I just love RPGs in general!

Super Mario Sunshine! I've never beaten it before (I'm slowly working on that), but the idea of FLUD (I think I spelled that right?) is amazing, the implementation of it is amazing, and it caused the game to be a bit different from the norm, and it is still fun (or frustrating) as any other game, and it has some fun glitches too.

Super mario 64 is the best mario games ever. In fact it is one of the greatest games of all time!

My favorite Mario game might be Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario 64. And of course the original Super Mario Bros is also a good game.

I really enjoyed and liked Super Mario 64 especially when I grew up playing this game.

I would say super Mario bros wii is the best because you can play 4 players, and that's cool

I haven't played much Mario recently, but I really enjoyed what I played of Superstar Saga. Great art, graphics and refreshing-but weird combat.

I've played a lot of Mario games over the years, but not all of them. Out of the ones I have played, I'd have to say the best ones are definitely Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 64.

I would have to say that my favorite would be the new 3d world one. It was a lot of fun and I really liked it.

Super Mario Brothers 3 was my favorite of all time.  It captured my imagination as a growing kid and it was fun to play individually or with a friend.  The different worlds had their own overworld theme, the music was different, the feeling was different, and they were varied enough to create individual challenges.

The cards and the ability to hold on to skills for later use was also creative.  It was fun to know I could get invincibility stars and hold them for battles against the hammer brothers when they were in the way.  

The trick to getting stars for lives at the end of each map also made sure you didn't invest a ton of time in the game and run out of lives at the end.

Lastly, the challenge of the final maps was hard but not impossible.  It wasn't a ghost & goblins or Contra type game where you have to throw bodies on a fire to put it out.  The finish was gratifying and it had a great level of challenge.

I think the best Mario game is Super Mario Galaxy 1.
It has beautiful atmosphere, amazing music and gameplay in it.
My favorite music from it is the Comet Observatory music.

Well, I really like the Mario and Luigi series a LOT, so I'll go with Bowser's Inside Story.

It's such an epic and fun game, with some really creative and almost INNOVATIVE ideas in it, like sucking up enemies and being able to actually fight some of them off with M and L instead of Bowser.

I am very tempted to put Mario 3. But I will say Super Mario World. Its just amazing, and yummy as things are named after candy and such.

SavatoX : While I am a huge fan of Mario Galaxy--it has the best graphics and gameplay ever! I cannot say that it was the best just because they ruined for me with Kamek's ugly face. For the best, I would have to vote for Super Mario Sunshine, there are no Kameks; it has one of best storlyines for a non-rpg Mario game, and it had some great gaming concepts.

It would be impossible for me to just to pick one Mario game to be my favorite so I'll do a top 10 (Mario is one of few franchises where even narrowing it down to 10 is hard)

10.   Super Paper Mario- Although this game is flawed I had a lot of fun with it. Its basically a 2d Mario game with paper Mario/rpg elements. It's a great game as long as you see it as a spinoff to the paper Mario series. Only problem with this game is world 2-2 which is probably on of the worst levels in a video game


9. Super Mario Bros- The game that started it all  this one is showing its age but its still just amazing and fun now as it was in the 1980's

8.Super Mario Sunshine- This  Mario game feels different then any other Mario out there. This game is the only 3d Mario game I have not beaten its very challenging but its very fun and a worthy successor to Mario 64  


7. Super Mario 64- The First 3d Mario game like the original game this one is showing its age but its still amazing to this very day


6. Super Mario World- On of the biggest games at the time this game was a very good step up from the NES classics nothing more needs to be said about this awesome game


5. Paper Mario: The thousand year door- A fun RPG Mario with a surprisingly good story (compared to other Mario games) and good humor in it as well that makes good use of the franchise

4. Mario Kart 8-  Any game in the kart series would fit this spot however I prefer the newer on as its in some ways outshines its earlier installments (except for the battle mode) plus decently priced dlc is coming that adds link and doubles the amount of tracks in the game making it the biggest Mario Kart game to date

3.Super Mario Bros 3- Defiantly the best 2d Mario game ever


2.Super Mario 3d World- like 3d land this on mixes old school Mario with the newer 3d games and blends it together to make a great game

1. Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2- I will end this list with a tie these games are defiantly the greatest Mario has had to offer and no matter who you are you need to play this game. In my opinion not only the greatest Mario Games ever but the greatest games of all time
