Hello people of Vizzed! With school around the corner and back-to-school commercials popping up, it is a sign of the first day of school coming to us sooner than we expect. Whether it would be new clothes, new shoes, new supplies, or what not, they help us get through long months of school.

How do you prepare yourself before school starts?

I always need new supplies like notebooks, pencils and stuff, and covers for my school books (we have to cover our school books, at the moment I have 36 books ). Besides that there is not a whole lot I do to prepare, I just need to look good on my first day because the pictures are taken that day but that's it actually

I never bothered getting anything new, I was happy with what I had and worked with that. The adverts are usually targeting those who are going into a new school and aren't prepared

To prepare myself before school starts, I pretty much just get new school supplies and new clothes to wear for the first day of school. I just need new binders and clothes for now, since my mom already got me notebooks and book covers. There is also a box in my house that has lots of school supplies like pencils, pens, folders, erasers, and book covers, so I can just go there if I need anymore supplies for school this year.

juuldude : So you need book covers for all of those books? o.O Wow, that's a lot! Does the principal in your school love to preserve the conditions of the textbooks or something?

Sparky15756 : Good for you man. I give you props. I only have to buy supplies if I run out or not but I have a good supply right now.

Basically, we go for an all out shopping day and we get some of the basic supplies, pencils, notebooks, binders (that every teacher seems to need) and also several packs of college ruled paper since we go through them very fast. For me, I have to wait until I go to my classes on the first day and then they hand out a syllabus that comes with a list of the supplies we will need, most of the time it isn't much for each class, but for all 8, it adds up. Prior to high school I would get a supply list that covered just about everything I needed for my classes before the year started, why its different for high school I will never understand. 

So I can't really get any of the specific stuff until the year actually starts. Thankfully we don't really do anything serious in the first week or so of school, so that gives me time. If you want my advice, it is best to stock up on essential things like paper, pencils and simple stuff that will wear out throughout the year. I also have a few bins of spare supplies downstairs just in case anything runs out. 

Indeed, it's because several people have to use the same book but if a book gets damaged badly you have to pay for it and it's not cheap, so with covers they get a lot less damaged.

This year I found one of those online lists, and I used it to help get everything I needed within two shopping trips.

Other than shopping, I have to prepare myself sleep-wise, as I mess up my sleep patterns over the summer. I'll pull an all-nighter, or get minimal sleep, a night or two before. I'm tired enough the next day to sleep at decent hours.

I've unintentionally pulled one tonight, and I might use it to my advantage to set my sleep right earlier than usual.

I get a brain new shoes, new clothes, and new supplies. I also try to get into a convenient sleeping schedule and think a lot about what I expect to happen to me during the school year, and what I should do when certain things happen.

I think one of the most important things is getting ready to make time for school and studying.

You need to plan ahead so that when school starts, you know you'll have time everyday to study and do homework. So get all your busy stuff done now, make sure you look at your schedule and make room for school. That is infinitely more important than fancy pens and a cool bag.
