A lot of points in Earthbound really scared me (Final Boss, etc.). There was actually a point where for a month I stopped playing I was so freaked out! Lavender town in Pokémon always gave me a creepy feeling inside as well. And even when they made it happier in newer Pokémon games, I still was kinda scared knowing what it used to be .

In Tales of Xillia, when you go to the spyrix research facility and find Volt, the great spirit-spyrite. When Volt awoke I was pretty freaked out, but it was nothing all that scary. I do not find a lot in video games to be scary, really, but it was just one of those surprises.

awsome888 : Giygas freaked you out? I thought he was the best final boss in any video game. It's such a neat idea that has no scare factor whatsoever

The scariest moment in a non-horror game is probably hearing Skull Kid's scream in Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It freaked me out so much as a kid. Look at this video:

There ha e been numerous points during the metroid series when I have been freaked out, like having metroids break out of their test tubes suddenly and the room going black, or the SA-X from Fusion. Check out this face!

I would agree that lavender town is a bit creepy. Just imagine turning off all the light and closing your eyes while listening to the theme song, you would probably be ready to jump in terror at the slightest touch.

I was playing a really hard Super Mario 64 hack, I attempted to load a savestate, and the key didn't work. I had to reset the game for the key to work. =/

It was 23rd of December just before christmas in 2010 I was really sick as I usually am during winter (god I hate snow. I am always sick when it snows) and I was watching Chuggaconroy's Lets Play on Paper Mario on the wii as my laptops charger was broke and needed a new one. At the same time I was playing the game on an emulator on my brother's computer as he was at his friends house staying over.(I think it was Project 64 I can't remember too well)I was at the bit just before going into the woods where you speak to Bow's butler. It was just after he finished talking or so I thought then suddenly he pops up and says and 2if you don't we'll get you BOOO" or similar words to that effect and since the lights weren't on (because I am an idiot for turning them off) I was very scared and alert for around 5 or 10 minutes.

That is the scariest moment I have had in a non-horro game and of course it is in a Mario game. The least scariest video game series I have ever played turns out to have one of the scariest encounters have ever had.

Well, there was one scary enemy that I have forgotten about, but now I've remembered him....I remember how scared I was....and my age was less than 4.

It was this monster...from a game called....."SkiFree", after a while of skiing for a while in this game.....this monster called "Abominable Snow Monster" appears and chases you till it catches you and eats you...man, I remember that I didn't sleep well for like a 3 days....Just type Skifree on google image search and you'll see it, and I know you're not afraid of it now but like I said....imagine if you were less than 4 years-old.

I was playing minecraft, and well I was mining, it was pretty deep in a cave I was looking for my armor since I had died like 15 minutes ago and I was going back to the spot where I died to get all my stuff back so I had some light leather armor insead of the good ol' iron, I always checked my back to see if there was any monsters or anything following me suddenly I wander off to a darkspot because I see a light in the distance ( but I guessed the brightness just tricked me) and well there was no light but as I look back there is an exploding creeper, I had no time to react the thing exploded on me, I didn't die but that gave me a pretty good scare, now I put torches anywhere where I go like every 10-15 blocks so I won't get that false brightness again.

My scariest moment would probably be from Super Mario 64.
My 8 year old self just worked up the courage to go into the Boo level (I don't remember the name). But, I made the awful choice of going onto the first room on the left. I walked up to the piano and....AAAHHHH!!!!!! :O The thing grew teeth, banged it's keys around, and almost killed me.

taterii : SA-X alone turned me off of ever wanting to play Metroid Fusion. I just hate the feeling of being hunted and defenceless like that.
Now, as a kid, what REALLY terrified me was a certain part near the end of Majora's Mask.
There I was, just fooling around in Ikana Canyon, when I get freaked out by the music and run into the nearest house, because houses are always safe, right?
WRONG! Pamela's father comes out as a part Gibdo. I screamed and shut off the Nintendo 64. I never went anywhere NEAR Ikana Canyon, or the game for that matter, for at least a few weeks.

That face still gives me shudders.

Ikana Valley. So far I'm through some of it...it was not a easy task. The Gibdo-Man, The music box house scene, and what else...? O-oh....T-the well....please not the well....ANYTHING BUT THE WELL!!! I nearly shut off the game from fright. And the wall/floor masters scared me straight. I could barely get through the place. The fact the gibdos were EVERYWHERE that you needed to give items to. And the dim lighting and me being the yellow-belly that I am, it was truly hard, But I did it and got the mirror shield. It was worth it. The face on it describes mine after I got through there.

Well, I'm used to horror gams so it's hard for me to get scared I grew up playing them. However, there was this one part in Twilight Princess that really caught me off guard. There was this boss character that was looking in the mirror for a couple of seconds, the music was all nice and lovely. But than the music takes an weird turn and it starts to sound scary a little. All of a sudden the boss character quickly turns her head around and ...

I jumped a little only cause I wasn't expecting that to happen at all ! I wasn't scared ...
The lights being off in my room added to the effect. This was 5 years ago I am looking forward to the next non-horror game to give me a scare I guess.

Skyrim, with out a doubt.

It was on my other save file. I had been going through a dwarven ruin for about 6 hours already. I finally get to the end part, and I am so happy, because at this point, I have looted so much stuff, I am only carrying the most valuable of things. Well, I get to final room, and I let my health, stamina, and magicka regen all the way, because if you have played Skyrim, and ever been through a dwarven ruin, you know you better be stocked on potions and food, which I was. I had actually spent about 10k gold just on potions for this quest, as well as another 15k on soul gems. While I am waiting for my stuff to regen, I check my stock... about 4 or 5 small health potions, 3 stamina, and 12 magicka ( only reason I had that many magicka potions if because I am a warrior kind of guy, not a mage ). "Well, great," I thought. "I am screwed."

I go in charging, waiting for the enemies to show up. Sure enough, it was more than I wanted to show up: 5 Centurions and a bunch of spiders and the guys that are balls when they come out of the wall.

I had to use almost 80 weight in food, my health potions, and my stamina potions, and even all of my magicka potions to survive that. But that wasn't the scary part. As I knock down the final Centurion, somehow, I get poisoned. I do not have a "Cure Disease" potion, so I have to sit there and watch my helth dwindle down, and hope I don't die. When it finally stops, there is nothing on my health bar left, so I decide to check out how much I have. "1/360"

If that isn't lucky and scary as heck in a non horror game, then I don't know what is.

As for how much I made? About 70k total from everything, and about about another 20k from the rewards for completing the quest.
