I recently found out that some area's in New York ( where I live) were shipped some contaminated cows meat. The meat is contaminated with an disease called mad cow. Mad cow disease is something that goes striaght for the brain and attacks it. It can cause memory loss, psychosis, hallucination, dementia, and other changes that can alter your mind. Hearing about this has made me stop eating all kinds of meat in general. I'm too afraid to eat meat because I don't want to get severely sick that I would have to go to the hospital or worse, death.

Last year I remember another incident were there was a dead frog in one of Dole's salad bags in a supermarket. I have found this out while watching the news and they actualy showed the dead frog that was in the bag. I was so disgusted that I just stopped eating salad. Didn't eat salad for 6 months but I eventually started to eat them again but this time I would make mines freah instead of buying the premade ones. I know I might be over reacting when it came to the salad and now the meat. I am doing this for my own safety. This is really awfull how these thigs can happen to the foods we buy.

How would you react if the food you were eating had an contamination and you didn't know about it ? What is your opinion on this subject ?

Here's a link for the grossest things you can possibly find in your food. Look if you dare.

While that is quite disgusting, you just cannot go about food in that way. There is always a chance of it being contaminated, regardless of it being a meaty or vegetable-like substance. You cannot guarantee your safety, so it is best to just proceed with usual cautious procedure. I remember watching a movie all about the disgusting food industry, and I barely ate anything for the next week, but I realized that I could not keep going on like that. You have to eat, and that is exactly what I did, regardless of how disgusted I was. Now, I am pretty much fine, and can eat anything that does not seem to be contaminated. You will probably know when there is something really bad in your food.

Sounds delicious. Nothing better than contaminated meat and a dead frog on your moldy breaded cheeseburger to really bring up your day.

In all seriousness though, this sounds awful. If I were contaminated (and lived), I would sue the government company for selling contaminated products. I wouldn't be too shocked if McDonald's or something like that contained contaminated meat.

Contaminated food in general is unsanitary and can be potentially fatal. But I do think you might be overreacting just a little avoiding all meats, since not ALL meats were contaminated, but I can understand why you did it.

megamanmaniac : I know I did, I can be very dramatic at times

But I guess I can eat other meats again. I would hate for milk to be contaminated since that is something I use almost everyday.

I wouldn't say that you overreacted.  I've actually personally never heard of meat really being contaminated with mad cow's disease, and oddly enough.... that's a LITTLE comforting to me. I was told I could never, ever donate blood in my entire life because I lived in England for two years as a baby.  I guess at that time, everyone was afraid of mad cow disease or whatnot and there's some very odd chance I might carry it dormantly.   Talk about irritating. I thought mad cow disease wasn't really something that went around any more, and I was just being forbidden over a near paranoia.

By the way, I think I would freak out if I found any of those on that link.  I would have to wash every salad thoroughly... that's disgusting!  You know what's funny though?  It's only when we encounter that ourselves that we react so harshly. I mean, here I am reading about people who have found frogs in their salads... and yet I don't feel inclined to wash my next bag.  If it happened to me myself... you can bet I'd scrub them to pieces.

My husband is like that with lettuce heads though. I guess at one point his mom found bugs in between the leaves. He refuses to touch a lettuce head and won't eat from one unless I wash out each leaf by hand after tearing it from the head.

My neighbor is a widow due to mad cows disease. Although there is no cure for mad cows's disease, according to my neighbor only 1/1,000,000 (1 million) people in the world have it. It can lie dormant and undetectable for decades. It's a pretty scary disease, thank goodness it's rare to get.

This must also be why a restaurant I went to last week had to take back my burger almost immediately after they served it to me (i hadn't taken a bite yet) and apologized saying they can't serve me steak either. I was fine with it because I ended up getting a free dessert out of it

What the HELL is with number 3? One time I found a human fingernail in my fries... It was disgusting. Eating fries, I see a fingernail. Eww.

The rest of those are pretty disgusting too. And creepy.
