I joined on the first day of 2013 ( Funny date I know ) And I looked at the boards a few months later. People were more nice. Less haters, And overall better quality. But, It is not by much. And 2 months ago quality was decreasing at fast rate. Luckily quality is starting to get higher again. I wouldn't say that I've been here as long as some of the veterans, but I have noticed a drop in at least some of the activity and/or content. However I sort of view this as a "changing of the times". Most of the users that were on in the past have moved on or no longer log on as frequently, those who actually take the time to post thoughtful and detailed posts also no longer do so as frequently as before. I get that people have a life outside of Vizzed, so its understandable why they would leave or decline in appearance. We are getting newer users who might not be as nicer, caring, or friendly as the vets, but I think we need to give them time and to encourage them to improve the content.

UFC : The second one might be a little inappropriate; although that might just be me thinking dirty thoughts.

imamonster : No I wouldn't say this is a duplicate... This thread wasn't created for me to whine about the "good old times". Unlike the thread totts made. 

I simply want the community to care about each other and this forum.

 Whether it be in the form of posting clever interesting ideas, Making new friends in the chat, or trying to think of new ways to take advantage of the games that this site has.

Another thing that I noticed (This will probably get shot down)

Is that Users seem a lot more trigger happy on reporting people or summoning moderators. I'm not sure if it's because newer users are more sensitive or more users are actively trying to look good by reporting things constantly. 

Besides.. Is it wrong that I find it ironic that you claim this thread is a duplicate and should be closed, but yet you still decided to answer the question... Surely a simple summon would have sufficed... Jus saiyan

I would had post in this thread before but wasn't sure what to say.....sure vizzed has changed from what it was in the past. And we all had our moments of our circle time with people before it ended. Because you now see it now then how it was before. Its doing ok in a way. I mean...so many good and bad things has happened on here. For better or for worse. Its something that we all have ride on. As I said before vizzed will always stay as vizzed despite the way it is going. some people might not like it while others would like it. For me its just neural now. I just come in here do my thing help people when I can. Also to post and spend time with my friends. To be honest I have forgotten most of the people that I have met in the beginning (Due to my short term memory) people do try to make interesting post if they can, and when they are free to do it. Many changes will happen in the future on vizzed. So there are somethings that we, in a way have to accept. Though it may not be how it was in the past .I say treasure every single moment of the time that you have with your friends on this site. Or whatever it is that you love doing.  ^-^

legacyme3 : See, I have to agree with you on a lot of what you said there. These threads pop up on a regular basis, and at times even I feel this way. I can think of a few reasons for that, but I'll get into that after my reply to you. In short, I think you're right about it simply being crowd transition. Not necessarily that people are just unhappy about being on the outside (though that's probably part of it), as Sonic pointed out that he inserts himself by interacting equally with all, but rather because new crowds have different interests and use the site differently than the others used to. Also, those were people that joined at the same time as you, so you were discovering Vizzed together, and nothing can replace that bond. So new users can be your friends, but it isn't the same as the old ones. As the quote goes: "You can always make new friends, but you can never make new old friends".



sonicmcmuffin- As for the question you set forth, I would say that I feel the same in some ways, but I feel that the posts from some of the newer members here show that it is indeed directly related to the change with newer members rather than the site itself actually going downhill. We've been here long enough (though you have been here longer than I) to see the drastic change in the crowds that are now joining, and the ones that were coming in a year or two ago. As I said in my reply to Leggy, we are still interacting with new members, but we have less common ground with them, as they have different ways of using the site than our initial crowd did, and they haven't the experience of joining at the same time as we did. And as Leggy said, we're getting older, and the average joining member's age is staying the same, and so our interests are beginning to have less and less in common with theirs, and our views on life, entertainment, and even our ways of viewing the Vizzed board are going to differ more and more as the years go by. In five years we'll probably feel this way even more than we do now. In short, I partly agree, and partly disagree respectfully. Also, I appreciate seeing that someone actually wants to hear people who disagree as well as people who agree. This folks, is what we call a conversation. Sonic's good about threads like that.

I do acknowledge though that I've recently been far less active in the community than I should be, but I'm changing that now. I had simply been too caught up in real life work and even Vizzed work too much to do much around the board. I'll be pitching in now to make sure that the forums become more interesting and active again though. How about we all do that, and see how much fun we can make this board?

Anyways, back on topic, I was the same thing as imamonster was, I joined Vizzed like a week after 2013 started, but I was those "Non-Posting Newbies", and that was the case until that May when I started to post a few things here and there, and that kept on going for a few more months and then all of a sudden, I have became a Local Mod.

Basically with me, I'm a pretty alright Moderator if you happen to wonder, I do happen to have a lot of other things on my plate other than being a Moderator on Vizzed, like my job, my hobbies, and etc. So they really ain't anything I can do regarding with this issue. I care a whole lot about this site, if I didn't, I wouldn't donate to the site or anything.
Also, based on what you said about the site is getting worse and worse, that isn't necessary true, remember Summer of 2013? Where the whole site lost control and Summer '13's TdV was the most spammest TdV on record, so I think to my point of view, it has been recovering since Summer '13, you may not see it, but it has been.
That's mostly my 2 cents on the situation.

Honestly, I don't feel like a lot has changed here. Just we are all older and what once kept us entertained has kinda gotten stale. I never thought the topics in the forums were all that engrossing other than a handful of threads or users that created them.

It's usually always been Pokemon, Intro Newb threads and people making sub-par "reviews"

Don't even get me started on my thoughts during tDV time.

I still come here for the games and to chat with people once in awhile (aside from my daily duties on the job)

I also think Vizzed needs to change as a community. I started realizing how bad things have gotten after Totts complained about losing her elite status. Users really should take things more seriously. I'm sick of seeing jokes being made out of serious matters. A community is supposed to team up to stop issues, not to keep mentioning them and making jokes out of them. I want so badly to be able to help make Vizzed a more fun place to be. I might have applied for a staff position if my family didn't make me go to a beach for this whole week. I feel bad that I can't be a greater contributor. Sorry... That's all I can say that wasn't already said.

Honestly my posts can be extremely long and detailed, or I just get to my point without any elaboration what so ever. But when I explain something I care about I really try and make it shine... more or less. But yeah, I'm only in it for the game discussions, I haven't even installed the RGR plugin in my laptop yet because I like posting. Honestly people (like Tots, sorry but it's true) have been posting only for the fact they made a thread or posted, but that's kinda due to the system of frequent posting. Maybe if we focused more on likes and word count people can be encouraged to put thought into their time here.

Mecha Leo : I actually like Totts's posts. They are open ended to allow more people to be able to relate and provide good answers/comments on whatever the thread is about. She also has a thread where she helps people with their problems, and so I think she is slightly under-appreciated for all the advice she has given and what she has contributed to the website, and many of it's users.
   I find that a lot of the great posts can be found in the cafe corner, health/fitness/science, and debate topics. Noob threads and the general area also contain a few gems. As for the entertainment avenue and crazy house, they have plenty of fun threads and games that can really entertain you. 

Slythion : To be honest I agree with you, it's just that she's probably posted more threads than anyone I know who isn't staff. A lot are very well put out and do help the board, but some can be pointless and are made for the reason of "hey, check my thread". She has her thoughts in the right place, but it WOULD be hard to come up with new ideas eventually.

I actually agree with you on a bit of this, especially the stuff you said about the moderators. It does seem like the Vizzed forums are becoming less fun than they used to be. This is probably why I left Vizzed for a long time. There still is posts that make me wonder and think a lot (like this one), but they're starting to become less and less common. It odes seem like people will do anything to get a special ranking on Vizzed, like, maybe, a colored name and whatnot for TDV or something, and I agree with you on that. There's a lot of people who just post for the sake of attention and more posts (Like Totts), and honestly, it's affecting what the forums are like on this website.

During TDV, things are wild. Useless posts, "reviews," mediocre Pokemon related threads, it's all because it's an attempt to tie in with the TDV. I definitely think this community needs to change, so I hope it happens.

Well, I honestly haven't been on this site long enough to know where the site is going to... But....

In my opinion, the site is BOTH going up AND down at the same time, but usually in different ways. 

Here's an example: Compare the TDVs in the past to the most recent TDV this site went through. From what I have seen, the TDV was getting worse and worse at first, then suddenly, it started becoming slightly less spammier and more fun. Like in the past TDVs, usually the whole month is all spammy. But in the most recent ones, the spam was just around the first half of the competition and then it became less spammy. (probably because DQ's were handed out more strictly.) That is one aspect of how the site goes up. 

Another example is that there is now the RGR (a long time ago, it was nothing but the forum), twitch streams, and even plans for future improvements on the site itself and the TDV. (obviously). And also, way back at last summer, the site used to be extremely slow and it would go down quite often, but now, the site is a lot faster and doesn't go down very often anymore. That is another aspect of how the site went up.

And now an example of how the site went down: As already mentioned by many users, the quality of threads, posts... etc went down. You can see that users post NOT because they want to truly mention something, but for post count++ or for a competition or something. Almost as if they are forcing themselves to post with no enjoyment. To be 100% honest, I used to somewhat be like that myself a long time ago, but eventually, I learned that post count++ and jerseys aren't worth it, the quality of posts and true enjoyment is whats really worth it. There is definitely nothing wrong with going for jerseys, but don't force yourself to post spam for jerseys. Enjoy posting quality posts while going for jerseys. This basically shows what mainly brings the site down. 

So, this is basically my point of view to this issue. The site goes down AND up but in different ways. (and I didn't expect this post to be that long but whatever.)

I haven't been on long but I found at least so far that every one is very nice. Now that I've said that I'll get a jerk lol. But just wait all sites have things you love an hate so ride it at it will work out in the end.

I feel that a lot has changed as well. It seems as time has passed and as users have grown older they have got tired with what they used to do.

I don't post as much as I used to. I was fired away in January TDV but that was because I thought it would be a fun experience something I could do. It was fun but it made it less fun with people who spammed stuff constantly and didn't post half of anything quality. Not going to go into any more detail on TDV but I have been so busy with my job and schooling and haven't made the time to come up with something to post in the forums.

I think it's time for a change but it takes more than one person it's going to take all of us. I hope we can come together as a community and one day make this happen.
