Hey, so uh...my name is Slythion. I'm a new member here, and hopefully I can fit in and beast it like I did to that Newbie Quiz thing (10/10!!!). If you don't want to waste your time and read a story that will not entertain you whatsoever unless you can relate to it I suggest you skip down to the bottom of this post.
? ?So my name is Slythion, as I've said, and honestly, I don't have much experience with emulators and roms. I downloaded a game boy advanced emulator and Pok?mon fire red from coolroms awhile ago but that is really all the experience I've had. If you are wondering what brought me to this website, it was really chance. I was browsing youtube for some music recently and remembered how awesome Final Fantasy music was and have been listening to it. Well, listening to that music then brought up some nostalgia due to the fact I played a few Final Fantasy games when I was younger, and have since then lost most of them in my stupidity. I have decided I wanted to play the FF games in order (yes, I know the stories have nothing to do with each other) to see how they progressed, and I also think they are good games. You wouldn't believe how much early Final Fantasy games cost (In the hundreds) so I turned to emulators/roms. This site caught my eye and now I am here in hopes of finding my beloved Final Fantasy games, and perhaps many other older games I have since forgotten about.

I have some questions:

1) what is this "viz" ?I see? I understand it is a currency but will it cost me real money to obtain? How much does the average emulator/rom go for on this site? Tips on the most efficient way to get it?

2) Would it be possible to get most, if not all of the Final Fantasy games downloaded (safely) from this site, including the emulator(s) required?

3) How does downloading work? Is it like coolroms where you download both the games and emulator and you simply drag the game to the emulator to run the game through the program? Also, if I do need to download, will I have to extract files?

4) Well...uh...I thought I had more questions but I guess that was it lol. Thanks in advance for any help you guys could give me, as I am extremely new to this sort of thing and I apologize if this part of the thread is not in the correct place. Let me know if you would like me to move it to a more appropriate spot and I would gladly do so.

EDIT***

I should have looked at the FAQ and stuff, so it looks like most of my questions are stuff I'll learn from trying things out and such. I did get a new question though...

5) What are the weapons and armor from the shop used for? Is it for some sort of game, like the competitions mentioned a couple times? Is it recommended that I spend my Viz on it or reserve it for games and stuff?

Slythion : Okay Welcome to Vizzed hope you have a great time i'm also a grand Final fantasy name but I guess you've noticed that.
Answers
1. to get Viz you have to Post, Write stories, Reviews, Record Videos and upload them to the Vizzed youtube account, and take screen shots, and make Walkthroughs.

2. Yes we all Final Fantasy games up to 9 and a bunch of fun hacks.

3. Okay so first you download the RGR plugin which allows you to use the Emulators and yes you download the games. and playing game for the first time does cost Viz but not much. No there is no extracting not that I have had to deal with anyway

https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=8676   here is where you can get the RGR plugin.

Well hope this helped and happy gaming

deg2000 : Thank you so much, this website seems really fun and I can't wait to explore its different features. I also forgot to ask, would it be alright if I used footage of gameplay from games I got from this website for a youtube channel I plan on making at some point this summer? I don't want to bother the owner unless I have to XD

Slythion : Welcome on Vizzed! I can answer both your questions:

5) I recommend you reserve it for game stuff as the Vizzed clothes are cool but just for the looks, the Retro Game Room stuff is better.

Your other question: Don't bug Davideo7! If you do, the mods will get angry and will think you're being a troll. You can record video games with a built-in recorder and you're allowed to upload them on Youtube but you shouldn't make them longer than 15 minutes.

I hope this helps enough, have fun on Vizzed!

Welcome!! I found Vizzed similarly to you, I wanted to play some Fire Emblem and discovered this gem! Anyway, I'll go ahead and answer your questions.

1. Viz is the online currency here on the site. It can be used to play games, get items from the item shop (some are currently just for show, but others will give you benefits in the RGR), or trade with other users for services or items. To obtain viz, you have multiple options. Posting, completing actions from this link, and Donating all give you varying amounts of Viz. The ratio of Viz to USD is 1,000 Viz = $1 USD.

2. On this site, you can play many of the FF games. However, for some of them, you'll need the PSX item from the Item Shop (50,000 Viz cost). No emulator required. However, if you're really wanting to download it for whatever reason, you can find everything you'll need at get-your-rom, which is a partner of Vizzed.

3. Basically, you hit play on the game you want to play. It'll download only what it has to, and (providing you have the RGR plugin) it'll automatically start. It couldn't be easier! In addition, use F2 to save and F4 to load your previous save state. This works for more than one session, so you can leave and come back and then use F4 successfully.

4. I'm quite happy to help! This is absolutely in the right place! Welcome to the site, and I really hope you enjoy it! Also, we'd love it if you stuck around here on the board as well!

5. Currently, the armor and such from the Item Shop is just for show. Davideo7 wants to add a battle arena eventually, but we don't know when. Do whatever you want with your viz! You can buy what you want, no pressures!

juuldude : Asking David a legitimate question is totally ok. We occasionally get frustrated if other staff could have answered the question, and therefore David is unnecessarily busy. Honestly though, if you have a question that the rest of the staff couldn't answer, David isn't opposed to PM's!
