Sonic X

It's one Anime that a lot of us might have remembered growing up.

Season one was good, sometimes each episode was just barely different enough.

Season 2 used Sonic Adventure 1, 2 and Sonic Battle for a lot of episodes.


But Season three broke lose of traditional sonic grounds.

An evil known as the Metarix are ready to take over the entire Galaxy.


But what I wanted too talk about was the end.

Sonic X amazed me. I have never had my heart touched as it has been from a cartoon like this, in fact, only a few things have. Anime's are known for character's displaying emotion more, which is bad, so long it is done realistically.

And honestly. . . .I don't see how someone could avoid tears in some situations. These stories can be heart wrenching, and Sonic X is no exception.


We all know what happens at the end of season three.

But I wasn't too sure about it. Tails is my favorite character, or, well, Silver is. I find both of these relatable. But Tails, I grew up with, Silver not so much, and in season three, Tails is really developed as a character.

But, It's just so. . . hard to take!

SHE'S GONE!

It's just so. . . wrong! And empty! Tails, is so young, how could they do this to him?! I know that he's not a real person. . . but still. . . why?!

She didn't have to die! What, did you think that the fans would like this more? That Sonic keeps getting, what five girlfriends in the comics, and that Tail's, dies just like that?!

doooh!

This made me really depressed!

And just thinking about it. . . even after it was all over. . . Tails. . . he believed in Sonic, Sonic had to be able to save her! He had all the emeralds! I guess that Shadow sure didn't help, trying to kill her all along, and then giving sonic that nice gut punch, (hey, he smiles again! must be a sociopath!) I'm sure that Shadow made it a lot easier for Sonic to find Cosmo after that nice suker punch, wasting precious time in the transformation process and just. . . ugh!

What a Jerk!

He may be pretty powerful, but it's not very nice when you never know who's side he's gonna be on!

Oh well. . . .

It's not that I hate Shadow, I do like him a lot. . . in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic 06, but man, he is a jerk here!

He shows up to kill Cosmo because he (correctly) realizes that she is the same plant being as the Metarix are. He also apparently has hacking skills and found out about Cosmo having that chip in her brain.

*checks to see if Vectorman is done loading.*

But what really gets me is this.

1 He beat sonic all too quickly

2 He stops Knuckles twice

3 He claims that he doesn't want to fight Tails, but after numerous encounters, and a chaos control warp using a fake emerald. He finally fight's Tails, hand to hand. He knocks Tails, back two Times. . . Tails says that he'll never let Shadow hurt her. Shadow raises his hand to attack Cosmo, poor Cosmo braces for impact, and Tails, though injured greatly by shadow, dives forward and grabs him by the legs.

You had never seen Tails so desperate, and he still says "I'll never let you hurt her!"

But what does Shadow do?

No, he doesn't just hit Tails Back, he SMILES.

He's ENJOYING hurting this poor Fox, by doing something far worse than just hurting him, he's hurting his female friend, Cosmo!

It's so. . . painful to think about what it must feel like to be Tails here.

Just painful.

And the sad thing is. . .according to official polls, Shadow is the second most like Sonic Character, right behind Sonic. Tails is number three.

I guess those Guys didn't watch Sonic X.

But oh well.


And at the season finale. . . Tails had to shoot the planet. . . destroying it.

Releasing the planet eggs.

and somehow, Cosmo has to become one with the tree?

Hold on a minute.

Cosmo has to become one with the tree?

How does that even make any sense?

Female seedlings should become trees, look at the species!

The males resemble trees, but the females resembled pedaled flowers of sorts.

Also, please note that the not all seedlings mature into trees, but apparently, (though I have no idea why. . . ) only the royal family can become the main Mother tree- although I still want to know why this happens to the females, and not the males. (the tree that black Oak uses, was not a tree that he transformed into, but is rather a tree that he built and then repossessed with the other two metarix commanders.)

So, Cosmo, flies down, and just kinda. . . repossess the tree, holding onto black Oak?

Or. . .

ya, know, I'm not exactly sure what's going on here!

All I know is this.

I highly doubt that Cosmo had to die, let alone become the new mother tree.

It's not like their weren't other stranglers out there of the seedrians, I mean, Dr. Eggman saved about 7 Cascade ace pilots, who seemed to have little or no connection to a major fleet.

I guess that one reason that Sega may have done this though is because. . . let's face it.

Plants can't marry animals.

Can they?

I've seen some fantasy series's show creative mixes of creature because of such events, but never a plant and an animal.

I guess that you could make it work, but It's almost something that you just can't make happen well.

But STILL, since when did Sega ever give us comics or something where we actually get to SEE who married who?

Oh yeah. . . those Archie Comics.

Still. . . it could happen. . .

Perhaps that is why Sega decided to kill Cosmo off.

Now, for some speculation about that seed and the end of the series.

Is it a happy ending?

As many of us know, all that Sonic was able to get out of the whole ordeal, (may I remind you again, no thanks to Shadow's gut punch?) was that seed. A white seed like the Metarix referred to Cosmo as.

Now, or course, All seeds may look like this. . . but of course, it may be very special since the Metarix actually called Cosmo, "white seed" implying that a white seed is very special.

But, is this seed Cosmo?

According to the jap version of the finale, Sonic (and Shadow) attempted to use Chaos regeneration to rescue Cosmo from death, but the seed was all that they got.

And this seed, is perhaps one the greatest topics on Conversation of Sonic X fans to this date.

Is it Cosmo regenerated?

Well. . .one thing that I'd like to point out, is that it doesn't mean much if she is Cosmo, but doesn't have her old memories. It would be like a clone. . . but. . . just maybe the memories could be given to Cosmo somehow later. The jap version did leave it open for a season three actually, although it never came to be.

Even if they could get Cosmo back to her original state somehow. . . what about the huge age gap?

She's going to be 8 years younger than Tails you know! That's a lot!

So, yeah. . . I know that some people point to the seed as some kind of hope, like a happier ending, but considering these facts. . . I disagree.

In fact, the ending is so sad, that Tails is blaming Sonic for his loss, and Sonic just says nothing.

Tails. . . he isn't even seen back on mobious at the end. Although we do see one nice picture of him smiling with Cream and having fun again. . . for some reason, he had no screen time. . . And I would suggest that it's becuase. . . he's still depressed.

Yeah, I know that he's laughing in the pic with Amy and Cream, but even depressed people have moments of happiness. There's a reason that he's no shown at the end. Look they even showed that seed having blossomed, but no Tails. No Tails planting it, no Tails Caring for it every day. He's just not there.

I would suggest that this is no happy ending . . . at all. It's as if Tails is just laying low waiting it out.

I don't know about you, but Tails is does not come across as one who get's over things easily, some of us can relate to his experience, and I'm not really one of them, but I know that I'd be crushed.


So. . . there you have it.


That is my rant.

And no, I don't think that all ending have to happy 100%! But really, Tails? You picked TAILS AS YOU'RE BEAT UP BAG?! SONIC GET'S 5 GIRLFRIENDS IN THE COMICS, AND IS OVER LOSING EACH ONE IN 5 SECONDS BUT TAILS GETS A DECENT GAL, AND JUST LOSES HER JUST LIKE THAT?!

No wonder there is no season four, cause Tails will probably never be the same.

Sword legion : the thing is aside from you I actually really love this ending all be it very sad and unfair like you said. it shows us that even young children have to embrace struggles they may not want and will sometimes blame others for what they had to do. The thing is I don't think Shadow can ever act nice and cooperative as much as Sonic or Tails can so the backstabbing and everything makes sense.


I'm not sure about the whole seed thing at the end but i have seen a game online where he has that seed bloomed into a flower though the game is never going to be finished I found it to be interesting. Either way I can't disagree with you much here but I do love this ending.

Oh I know what you mean.....I watched sonic x too when I was young. I really felt sorry for tails as his happiness was taken away from him. I felt it was unfair on tails in a way.....

I'm trying to figure out what this means for Tails and the seed at this point.

One thing that I wonder is how, mature these Sonic Characters are- biologically.

I mean, look at how smart Tails is for his age, and he can speak very well. Also, Amy wants to get married even though she is only 12 or something like that.


Actually, I would suggest that Sonic Characters, like animals, mature much, much faster.

Another thing that I'd like to point out, is that in the jap version, Dr. Robotnik refers to Cosmo as having "Matured" even though she is 8 years old! Also, It appears that seedrians may live forever.

My thinking is this

if Cosmo = matured after 8 years

Tails is 16, (earth years, not Mobian years) when that happens, then the two are a lot more compatible.

Then we have the issue of Cosmo not having her memories- which is a large factor to consider.

But hey, it may not even be Cosmo, though it would appear more likely that it is, than it is not.


All I want, is for Tails to get his due.

And I felt that the ending was unfair.


That seed, maybe. . . it's something more of a sour reminder to Tails, I mean. . . man. Losing someone that special can be a killer. It can put you out for a long, long time.

BTW:

After talking to my sister about it, she decided to make a fanfic with me about what happens after word, - though I'm only there to help with ideas- she'll be writing the real thing.

Its good that your sis will make the fanfic. I will surely read it, as I wasn't happy that sonic and Amy had their own happy ending.

I thought maybe they would do another season, to bring Cosmo back to Tails. So that he could be happy again....but they didn't.....

So they finally get rid of Chris Throndike and then they decide to end the show. I'm also glad Cosmo is gone. The show doesn't need that unnecessary love story between her and Tails. Personally the whole of season 3 was a pretty crap story. I got excited when I thought we would see some Dark Super Sonic but then they show him for 10 seconds. Then they bring back Shadow and put him abck in his prime and then kill him again. Like really, Shadow isn't a a sacrifice machine.

Cosmo isn't even dead she has her happy ending on her planet. But Chris leaving is the happiest ending of all.

I totally agree with you on that user, in fact, if only Shadow remembered, then maybe he wouldn't have been able to bring himself to actually do it!

Yeah, the plant could be seen as pretty depressing. Especially with Tails only being seen in one picture at the end, but not talking to Chris, to Eggman, or even Sonic after that one . . . Terrible scene where Sonic hands him the seed.

He's not even shown planting or taking care of it.

It like. . . . .he's just gone. . .

It fact. . . I think that's kinda what happened to him.

He's just. . . gone. . . and not the same. It may never be the same Tails.

That's what hurts the most!

Even Sonic and Eggman aren't back to their normal stuff just yet. At least Chris seems happy, as well as Knuckles.



If the seed isn't Cosmo, then I think that all it really does is make things worse.

Yes, I am aware that people don't think that it makes sense for Tails and Cosmo to like one another, but perhaps this is because their relationship formed under circumstances that are more common in a country setting. Etc. Just the pure kindheartedness of Tails doing all this to stop the Metarix, and little things like Cosmo bringing Tails lunch.

But about that seed.

If it does become Cosmo, and I mean, actually Cosmo, with the same spirit, body and soul.

And she could have her memories.

Then I could accept that.

It's just Tails having to cope with it that really hurts. But depression can't last forever.

*sigh*

The jap version left room open for a season 4, but we didn't get it. I suppose that Cosmo will have to stay in Tails heart until she finally matures from that plant form- if it is her, it probably is. I'm sure that Tails can figure out how to give her back her memory if that needs done, he'd do anything to get her back. That's why this love was so special. So many people's idea of love is just so selfish, and self serving, no wonder so many relationships fail. True love in the original Hebrew is the self sacrificing kind of love. That's what they both had. That's why it was so heartbreaking.

While Sonic deals with infatuation with 5 different gals acting like a real teenager. *sigh*
