Also I didn't say this in my earlier post, but it's a pretty common occurrence for rapists to be severely beaten in prisons by other prisoners who have children or something. Sometimes these people are even beaten to death. This of course is a pretty inhumane way to die, but sometimes they deserve it. Most of the time these people aren't even in for life, or eligible for the death penalty.

No. Even if they did something horrible, a life is precious. Jail them for life or something, but death penalty seem too much. A life is a gift and ending it is wrong, no matter what.

If you kill someone for "justice", than you are as bad as the person who committed the crime in the first place.

jack3604 : You have made a simple overlooking of what I said.  I said I feel they should be put on trial as in for a crime.  Never did I say they should be committed of an equally heinous crime as murder or that their sentence should be the death penalty.  All I meant by that is that it is wrong to think killing innocents is okay because you believe the imperfect judicial system is killing innocents yet feel we should keep the death penalty regardless of the innocents that die is the crime you see now maybe.

I have mixed feelings about the death penalty. The first being as a Christian i hope the condemned accept Jesus as their savior but I still believe they have to answer for their crime. On the other hand serial killers and rapist in my opinion deserve to be executed. The past two botched executions makes me hard to feel sorry for them. The reason being as their victims were being raped and killed I can imagine them screaming to stop. So its hard for me to feel sorry for a person like who did those horrible things

Now I'm not a fan of lethal injection. For me personally the death penalty should be the firing squad. I think the firing squad is humane as there it is instant death. Utah still has that option and Wyoming is thinking about bringing the firing squad back

What do you mean RE-instate? It's legal to shoot a man who is trespassing at night in my state. Death roll has no speed limit here. And I prefer it that way.

People are forgetting how nice U.S. prisons are...
-human interaction
-work-out room
-jobs
-outside area/yard
-(some) have libraries
-running water
The point I am trying to make is that prisons are sometimes an
improvement to a convict's lifestyle. and so many people will choose to spend life in prison before death. Already some people are being sent to jail on purpose because it is an improvement to their lives. I am all for the death penalty, but only for those that can not/will not contribute to society. Those who have been sentenced for life because of violent acts like murder, I feel do not deserve to live and effectively become a "deadweight" to everyone else.

No, although there are horrible persons in the world nobody deserves to die. It's terrible to think that maybe because the cops, judges and all other people got it wrong causes you to die. Spending time in jail may be boring but at least you've got something to do.

The death penalty was banned in my state in the late 1990s, but I would bring it back. There are people out there who are so mentally damaged beyond repair that know nothing but crime and mischief, that are either locked up for life for heinous crimes or who spend their lives in and out of the prison system. It is cheaper for the state to dispose of these people who will never be of any use or benefit to society, then to waste taxpayer money to keep these people alive but in captivity. I would also go so far as to say it is better for the criminals who deserve the death penalty because a life in prison, whether permanently or intermittently, is not much of a life, however, maybe some of them don't understand that.

(Sorry for bump, but I was going to make a thread about this until I saw this one)

Yes, I definitely would reinstate the death penalty. It is beneficial in more ways than one. First, the criminal gets what he deserves. If you kill someone, you deserve to be killed. Second, it is better for the criminal. Most criminals would rather die a painless death then spend the rest of their life in prison, especially if they committed a really horrible crime. Inmates tend to attack and rape people if the crime that they commit is that bad. Third, it would cost less. We won't have to pay for food, clothes, cable, etc for the criminal for the rest of his life. The only thing that is really up for debate, in my mind, is, what crimes are worthy of the death penalty. I don't even know what crimes I would say should be punishable by death, other than murder of course.

Yeah, but instead of using painkillers and poison or an electrical chair, I'd actually use a method that doesn't torture the criminal before he dies, regardless of what he did, doing it to him would be just as bad, anyways I'd use maybe a guillotine (they've never had to use one twice on the same person) or maybe blindfold them give them a comfy blanket and pillow strap them to a car chair and give them carbon monoxide, I heard it kills you the same way old age does: You got to sleep and just don't wake up.

its so hard to get the death penalty to work what with appeals and whatnot that most people on death row end up dying of natural causes before they could receive the punishment for the crimes they have committed they just waste tax payers dollars filing appeals and draging it out through the court system for as long as humanly possible

i think the state of ohio finally got it right watch this video i agree with it 100% warning viewer discretion is advised
