Well, except the obvious pun, I wouldn't say Luigi really sucks. He tends to be afraid, but that's at least something of a character. It doesn't help that Mario is pretty much the straight man, bland character. Luigi just tends to be the one with a discernible personality. Then comes the RPG games where he has a lot of fun interaction. He's either telling you about his own, heavily made up and much more impressive in his own head, adventures that even his party members mention as false. He also has a decent enough plot in Super Paper Mario. He even gets partial final boss privilege alongside Dimentio. Overall, I'd say Luigi is more of an interesting character. He also completely curbstomps Mario in Super Mario 64 for DS. Play that game as Luigi and you'll never want to go back to playing as Mario.

Luigi is adorable as kittens. I played Luigi's mansion as a kid and I just loved  the cute "Waaaaahhhh" sound that he makes. But I really don't like mario, ever since I had that one game where he taunts luigi and steps on his shoe, my opinion about him has changed. Not to mention he's my second favorite character next to fox in Smash. With that being said, I rather take Mr. Ghost Buster here than his other brother.

I not surprised to see a lot of Luigi supporters, this forum is filled with them. 

He could jump higher in SMB2. What, thats a reskin and a lie? Nonsense... it had Mario Bros in the name.. its surely.. canon lol

Luigi is as good, if not better than Mario. He can jump higher, move around easier, and feels more fluid. Even his design is superior - green trumps red any day of the week.

That depends on the game. If you're talking about Super Smash Bros. wise, than no. He's got a lot of potential in that game, hahah!
However, if you're talking about his appearances of other games (except Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2), then yes. He's a retard, but a retard I love more than Mario. Don't get me wrong, Mario is good and all, but seeing many video game characters based of the same personality, it just gets kind of tiring and boring. Though, Luigi is no different in that area, as well. I guess it's a matter of relation. Many people can relate to Luigi, because of his fears and personality type. Mario on the other hand, is hard to relate too. Not everybody is the hero in shining overalls, with a green dinosaur as a steed. Besides, Luigi doesn't get that much attention, so I feel sorry for the little tyke. :/

As to Luigi being afraid of ghosts still. . .I'm scared of the dark, after all these years. Sure I've overcame my fear, but I'm still cautious when I'm entering a dark room. Never know what'll be waiting for you on the other side.

I think that Luigi doesn't suck. I think he's actually kind of cool character, and one of my favorite game characters of all time. Green color is one of my favorite color and one reason why I like Luigi more than Mario. Luigi is also sometimes quite hilarious character as well. But Mario is a cool character too of course, just not as cool as Luigi in my opinion.

Nah, Luigi is a great character. He does not suck. He is pretty much like Mario but he is better believe it or not. Theories have me to believe that Mario is actually a bad guy. In conclusion, Luigi does not suck.

I don't think he really "sucks" persay, but that everyone just likes making him the black sheep of the Mario canon. In at least my reality though, I know plenty of people who adore him more than his brother because he is a bit more fearful, lankier, goofier in his noises and actions (and I adore his sensual special move in Smash Bros: Brawl, haha). Plus, I think it is really neat that the game that really threw him into the spotlight was about fighting ghosts. 

Luigi is love, Luigi is life.

Luigi is by no means a bad character. After all, He was courageous enough to take on a spooky mansion full of ghosts and all sorts of creeps to rescue his brother! Mario has not done that yet. True, Luigi is very fearful. But when it comes down to it, Luigi will do what needs to be done...shaking along the way, but doing it nonetheless. He is fast and a better jumper than his brother, and is always around to cover home base. Hey, don't underestimate that! Defending the home is an important job!

This thread is still up? I think it is pretty obvious that a lot of people who posted on this thread, likes Luigi including myself. But hey, everyone has their own opinions right?

Luigi does not suck because he jumps higher than Mario. Case closed.

ROCKYROCKEST : for that people have different opinions,luigi has always been better in every game than mario, your only looking at one part of the story.luigi's mansion is him going through a mansion with ghost that can kill him at any moment i would be scared too!  he's always been taller and able to jump higher its a proven fact.I'd like to see you go through the same mansion

ROCKYROCKEST : Luigi doesn't suck at all. I'm certainly not his biggest fan but I still like him regardless. Sure he can be a scaredy cat at times but he comes through when it counts! He's one of the greatest sidekicks in video game history.

I personally don't think Luigi isn't that bad really, in fact, depending on some games (like Super Mario Bros. 2 (The US one) and Super Mario 64 DS), Luigi is quite useful in those situations. So, I won't say that he sucks, he's pretty alright though.

Luigi sucks so bad and so often that when he rocks, he's so awesome that we forgive him for existing as everyone's too-guilty-to-admit favorite video game character .
