I was not sure about placing this thread in the milestone sub-forum, as it does not highlight my accomplishments on this site, but my accomplishments in real life. So, to stay on the safe side, I did not sub-categorize it at all. Anyhow, allow me to begin. I am usually very pessimistic about various things, including myself, and I have never praised myself for anything. So, I have decided to create this quick thread listing my notable achievements in life, which are not much, as I have only been alive for twelve years. Please do not expect tremendously great milestones, as they are mostly going to be academic achievements. Nevertheless, here they are: 7- Successfully Became (and Stayed) a Member of the Honor Society in Sixth Grade Alright. Perhaps I have not acquired this position earlier because of the fact that Honor Society does not apply to elementary school students. Regardless, I made it into the group last year, in my first year of middle school. Basically, Honor Society is a small group of 6- Made It Through Sixth Grade with Flying Colors After a Series of Struggles and Doubt Again, this does not seem like much, as it is merely some eleven year-old who made it through the sixth grade. But, please, bear in mind that this was the past year of my life, and very recent for me. I am still a child, after all. However, I felt that this deserved to be considered on this little list as an accomplishment due to how hard it was to achieve. I have endured countless struggles during the final term of sixth grade, which made it very difficult to maintain my average of ninety-one. However, despite my uneasy feelings after walking out of the exam rooms, I received a report card signed by the principal on the following week noting that I had passed sixth grade with High Distinction. This made me the only student in my grade who graduated the first year of middle school with High Distinction. Please do not respond with 'wait till you hit high school" or "wait till you hit college" type comments, as I, being twelve years old, am coping with what I can - the seventh grade level. This is equivalent to an eighteen year-old coping with what he or she can - college. 5- Participated In the Founder's Day Musical Production 2011-2012: Movies Across Centuries This was a play hosted by my school, but let me get something straight. This was not your typical school play swarmed with a bunch of cardboard trees in the background played in the school auditorium. This was performed at a theater with professional lighting, music, and special effects. I now own and have watched the CD, and I found it very impressive. So impressive, in fact, that I could have sworn it was not made by my school. I was very lucky when I registered to act in this play; not only did I get a part, but I was granted with the leading role of Maria in the Sound of Music segment. I said all my lines with confidence, not making a single mistake, and I sang and danced the whole main theme without skipping a beat. It was extremely tough work preparing for this play, but it was worth it in the end. 4- Performed My 'Equivalent' of Meditating and Became Much More Independent After Coming to a Conclusion Let me begin with this segment by saying that I am not very religious person, however, I do believe in God. My mother is a Muslim, my father is a Christian, and I guess I am... both? Due to me having inherited several religious origins, I do not dive deeply into any of them, but I sit down at least once a month and go over everything that is necessary. At first, I thank God for everything. Afterwards, I go with my own way of clearing my mind. I do not take any specific 'position'; I just sit comfortably and think, and think, and think. I go over myself and what I am afraid of. Then, I decide how to confront those fears. If there is no way at the given time, I try to think of what I can do to improve what I can. Mental math? Working in groups? No. I try to remedy any emotional issues that lurk within me, and I try to raise my self-esteem. During the specific session I am proud of, however, I have come to a conclusion and cancelled my goals of becoming more like my classmates. They are mean, spoiled snobs who act as though they are older than they are. I do not want to be like them. I want to continue being kind and scoring great grades. "You are not a nerd, Yasmine, you are a genius!" as my teacher once said. I will not let their bullying get to me. I will not be like them. I am better than them. I have more noble goals than they do. Therefore, I have absolutely nothing to worry about. I can laugh at them silently. Their ignorance is bliss. They are not stronger than me. Jewelry and fancy clothes do not make for a well-constructed person. Right thought, right intention, and right actions make for a well-constructed person. 3- Convinced A Close Friend to Reconsider Suicide This is something I have done a month or two ago. One of my close friends, who is about a year younger than me, was gloomy and upset one day about how emotionally scar-filled her life was, and told me she might as well 'let go'. I found it absurd for someone around my age to be thinking such things, and I got very angry. Despite her retorts, I continued yelling at her telling her she was wrong about everything she said in the argument. I gave her a harsh lecture on how suicide is the coward's way out, and that killing oneself is much more cowardly than facing the obstacles of life. In fact, suicide is used as an escape, and therefore the coward's way out. Aggravated, I told her that life would offer much more if she was willing to give it time. "Watch and see" was the genre of my final sentences. After a full hour, I left. The next day, she came back. Since then, she has had the daughter of the man who made Converse All-Stars fly over to her party, was taken to LA for her birthday, and performed a duet with Selena Gomez. This serves as a prime example of how killing oneself can throw away a lifetime of wonder that begins later in life. 2- Participated In the Founder's Day Musical Production 2012-2013: Is This It? Michael Jackson: The Revelation This was just like the fifth grade play I have explained above. Hosted my school, yet performed in a theater with professional lights, music and special effects. This was last year, in sixth grade, and it was very fun to act in. I appeared in a minor role as a member of the audience behind the bars of the Red Carpet 'fan-girl-ing" over Michael Jackson as he walked along. I appeared shortly afterwards with a few others patrolling a graveyard. Before the Thriller segment, 'zombies' pop out of the ground, and, after saying a few lines, we all run and scream off backstage. I make my final appearance much later in the play dancing to Hall of Fame by The scr 1- Overcome My Fears Completely And Stood Stronger Than Ever Please pardon me for what I am about to say, but it sounds completely retarded that I was once afraid of the Lavender Town theme, right? I suppose so. I was most afraid of it during the summer of 2013, just before I registered on Vizzed. I considered this to be the most psychologically painful part of my entire life due to several reasons including social mess-ups. I listened to the tune. Then, I got so agitated one night I was actually driven to crying. The high frequency rang through my ears, and while I know that the "Lavender Town Syndrome" does not exist, I find it a very uneasy tune. I got up to tell my dad. I needed a hug. I was so depressed, and I was very sad. I could not stop crying. Then, I decided not to tell him. I went back to bed. I got more headaches. Wow. That's actually impressive ! I'm glad you've become strong enough to solve your problems. And you saved your friend's life. Those are never easy things to do. I really liked what your teacher told you, "You are not a nerd, you're a genius.". Try to not let people's (pathetic) attempts at bullying get you down. Well, hopefully in the next 12 years you have another list of achievements! |

I agree, this is impressive. I like a few of them, and I believe these are great accomplishments for somebody who is your age. Now, all you have to do is aim for even bigger ones, but I feel you have what it takes and that you can do much more. |

Those are definitely some worthy achievements and everybody is right, you should feel proud of yourself for what you have accomplished so far in life. By your writing it is easy to tell you are extremely intelligent and for someone so young you have some good insights about conformism. Keep up the good work! |
