On some flash drives, there might be a little switch on the side that locks it. Flipping the switch would help. If there is no switch, there should be a program that allows you to manually unlock it online.

hmmm this was happening on my dads tablet mini sd when he got it. Try finding the switch for write protection, push it into the position that disables it, and put a little clear tape over it to keep the switch in that position. Be careful though don't tape over the contacts or you could damage it. This worked for my dads mini sd so hopefully this works for your flash drive.

dvkbuddy10623 : Can you please stop posting that on every single thread in this forum? It is not helpful, nor is it intelligent or funny.

You have to make sure it is compatible for your computer or laptop. It can also help if you google it. You may have better luck finding that type of stuff. If all else fails, buy a new flash drive.

If you want more help we need more resources.
Tell us the manufacturer, capacity and it's name. The box it was in might be very usefull and some pictures too about the drive or box.
You only need to share what you want because I respect peoples privacy, but we would be much more successful if you would share these infrmations about the drive.

hooper : So did you try zanderlex's method? Look very closely for a switch. You know the "lock" switch on SD cards? If it's set to lock, then it's write protected. If it's not locked, then you should be able to copy things to it and edit it.
