Last summer I started a Pokemon Rom Hacking competition where users could win and earn money by creating hacks for Vizzed:

That competition has finally come to an end and now has entered a 3 month long voting period (May 21st is when it ends). You can find all of the hacks that were submitted to this competition (and qualify) here:

That URL displays all of the games in order of which is currently considered "the best", and that's how we'll choose which rom hack wins the competition ("best" = rating * vote count). Feel free to play each of the 6 games that were entered and be sure to rate each game that you play.

Davideo7 : Are you going to do a similar competition for any other game? Or is this going to be the only one?

megamanmaniac : I was going to do one for Mario games (which would include Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, and Super Mario World) but I'm waiting for earthwarrior and LocksmithArmy to make rom hacking guides for those. It would also depend on how many users would be interested in a rom hacking competition on those 3 mario games because this Pokemon rom hacking competition had barely any participation (only 6 submissions) so it might be a waste of money for me to invest $100s into another competition like which would probably get even less submissions (especially since Pokemon is far more popular than Mario on vizzed).

Im so disappointed that I didnt get my hack made... I had a few people bail on me, and I genuinely think I could have won this competition, if my hack was made. Best of luck to those who submitted hacks.

Davideo7 : How long will we have to play/judge the hacks?  I haven't played any of the hacks yet, and have little time outside of weekends to play them.

I see Sonic getting a lot more stuff over Mario because of how versatile you can be with Sonic games.

bombchu link : I'm pretty sure hacking a sonic game is harder than hacking a mario game (but I could be wrong since I've never hacked a sonic game). Also, mario games on the site are more popular than sonic games. Proof:

Out of the top 45 most played games, 8 are mario games and 0 are sonic games.

supernerd117 : However long you think you need to play to form an opinion. Basically you're rating the games based on what's new and different. If someone changed barely anything, they should get a poor rating.
