It's been a while since we've had that initial burst of threads, so here's a simple question. 

The oldest racing game I own is 2003 Nascar. Some of my pre-2000 games have races, but aren't racing games themselves.

I actually have this joystick that has a bunch of old games programmed into it, so when you plug it into your TV you can play stuff like Ms. PacMan, Galaga, etc.

And on that joystick is the arcade version of Pole Position, which (after a quick google) I think is one of the first arcade racing games ever created.

On it's own? Then either Mario Kart for SNES or F-Zero for the SNES. Not sure which was released first. If collection discs count then Pole Position. I have it on one of my collection discs for the Gamecube.
