Getting burned is very painful so yeah I would not want to be burned to death. Freezing is painful too but you do lose feelings before you freeze to death.

I have never liked heat and the cold has just never really bothered me as much, I would rather face either frostbite or hypothermia and have a quick death that doesn't yield much pain rather than be baked to a crisp or roasted alive after starvation, dehydration and possibly hallucination and all the other symptoms that follow when being exposed to extreme heat. 

I agree hypothermia is no joking matter and it is rather horrible, but I would much rather take that over the tons of other things that follow being in the heat or being burned because it is so painful...although I would rather just die warm in my bed...sadly that's not a choice....

I would rather want to freeze death as it would probably be less painful since you stop feeling anything before you actually die.
Then again burning to death means you will die faster so the question is what you would rather want.

More intense pain for a lesser amount of time?

well.... I can't really say for sure cause it sort of depends on what the temperatures are. If you are in the heat for like hours and you die because you are unable to breath from lung dehydration (or something like that) or do you just burn in the fire? and the freezing is it an instant freeze or one where your limbs go numb and start falling off from frost bite. Well I guess I would choose burning cause I never did like the cold and I'd rather not watch as my limbs fall off of my body.
