My school didn't call off school today even though MoDot issued a no travel advisory and is telling people that if they have to leave their homes to carry a winter survival kit. But they've called off school on days where there wasn't even a flake of snow on the ground. It was just too cold for the kids who ride the bus to wait for the bus. I don't get it. They're completely putting the students endanger. My mother actually cares about my safety and would not let me go to school today because she didn't want me to get stuck at school.

I had a theory about why this happens, so I went to the cental office to see the guy who makes the final decision on whether or not the schools in my area are closed or not. Well my theory was correct. See for yourself, I snapped a picture of the school closing master mind.

I do not know were you live but last week that is how it was in my area. We got 2-3 inches of snow. The problem was the schools did not close down or let out early when the winter storm was coming in. The result a lot of stranded students. Your mom is doing the right thing by keeping you in. The next Winter storm is going to dump 4-8 inches of new snow in the Midwest and North East. Probably schools are running out of snow days that is why they did not close it down. Still they should be thinking of the student's safety

I was watching the news this evening and noticed that most of the schools around my area were closed.  I kept on watching and saw my school didn't make it on the list of closed school.  I was sad and decided to sleep out the unfairness.  I woke up around 6:45am and looked outside my window, it was snowing up a storm.  I ran downstairs and my dad explained that I had no school today. I literally jumped with joy. So, here is my day off from school and guess what?  We still have no scheduled  school for tomorrow!

I live in the great white north, where schools arne't likely to close even in the worst of blizzards. The school officials could be barbarians, kid haters, or just ice people who have no sense of the cold.

My school region has snow days quite often. I think we've had a week and a half worth of snow days this time around but they are really stupid about when they call it. Sometimes they call it on days where it's really not necessary and today when there's a snow storm they don't call it. We had about 15 cm of snow fall and it was heavy winds. My guess is they didn't call it because they don't want to lose more money. Which really sucks because I have to walk 30 minutes in the snow. They really need to be more smart about when they decide to cancel school. I live in Bradford, Ontario in Canada by the way so that's why we get a lot of snow days. So I can understand your situation here it's probably because they think they can get away with it. Calling off school due to it does cost them money.

The weather has been going really weird where I live. It can turn extremely warm for no reason to having a blizzard the next day. This cycle repeats a lot. The weather magically keeps giving me harsh weather like sleet, hail, rain, and snow which cause my classes to keep canceling. I get very angry and frustrated by this due to the fact that I have to pay for my classes. My school doesn't inform class cancellation until the very last minute while other schools in my state close school very early. I just wish that people especially people like the mayor for example, can understand what people are going through from the bizarre and harsh weather. Safety should definitely come first for the people!

In my area, I have gotten loads of crazy snow days quite a lot this month. I even have a 4 day weekend right now because of it. Sometimes, school even gets closed without reason due to fear of possible snow days.

Where I live, school has been canceled either for snow or very cold weather. It got canceled this Thursday and Friday because of the snow fall that occurred. Honestly, I really don't want any more days of school being canceled because every day that gets called off, we have to make it up. Right now, there are no more spring break days to use as make up days and more days are getting added to the end of the year to make up the rest of the days that got canceled due to snow and/or temperature.

This month has been crazy as far as snow days go, i think I have missed like 2 or more weeks of school just because of it, this week I missed Thursday and Friday and in the past month or so I have missed 3-4 days in a normal school week, it is good in a way, but then all the make up days will have to be planned and they are usually days we would've originally had off. My area received about 5-7 inches of thick snow and it was a hard type of snow too. So I have had a lot of snow days this year which I am happy about...on the downside though, the date in which school lets out will probably be extended :/

UFC : Not really. I'd rather have a couple months off to myself in the summer where I can freely go outside and do whatever I want instead of being confined to my house because there's snow and ice everywhere.

I missed having a snow day at my college by two days last week. I live near Seattle right now and despite being up north, getting snow here mean a lot of places shut down. Mostly because we don't get a lot of snow west of the mountains, thus, not a large amount of plowing services.

At my school each time was snow holiday. All we went outside playing with snow. It should be noted that in my city snow rarely falls (exactly one time in 2 years) because it is a coastal city.
