Yuck, cafeteria food.

Often, I hear that cafeteria food is really bad. I say it a lot, too. But now I'm asking what you think is wrong and how you would improve school food. 

I would make food fresh and abundantly, so that popular dishes don't run out in the first fifteen minutes of the first lunch. I'd toss three day old grilled cheese sandwiches and warm the french toast enough so they aren't like stones.

I think this is reasonable. Especially for schools, like mine, with incredibly high expenses for food.

Well I would check out what I am cooking, and if its still in date. I would make sure to buy it fresh, then next I would cook healthy but! Yet tasty food, for the students that they would love to eat. You must always think of the students, and how they would eat the food that you cook.  ^-^

Cafeterias should start taking suggestions from kids, as such suggestions are likely to be very popular and will certainly improve the mood at school. Now, my school dosen't actualy have a cafeteria, but i have been to one that does, and it was great, because the school did takes suggestions from the students.

I'm going to probably get in trouble for saying this. But I would pull out of the government's health school lunches. Kids have been refusing to eat that saying it taste like vomit. I think to improve school meals the schools should offer a variety. I don't know maybe like have a salad bar, and a hot meal bar with variety. When I was in High school we had a Salad Bar, a hot bar that had hamburgers, spaghetti  and sometimes ribs. We also had a pizza area that students could get pizza if they wanted. The food was pretty good. However after I graduated they removed that stuff because it was deemed not healthy. Schools should bring back the variety back. Just my opinion of course

For starters, I would make more toppings for the pizza. Cheese and pepperoni and thats it, And the Pepperoni's after-taste is HORRIBLE, It tastes like undercooked meat. So i might feel sick during recess. And the bagels are not crispy but i can't do anything about it, My school has 900 kids, Im serious.

Pizza: Baking it once, and then leaving it out until they have to serve it. Then they microwave it. | After baking it, let it stay heated up somehow, even if it has to be baked again, but not so much that the bread gets hard.

Nachos & Cheese: Reuse old cheese (I hear the cheese is a week old when served, though I don't know if it's true), warm it up, and put it on the nachos. | Boil the cheese on low heat so it can stay hot and not have to be microwaved or anything like that. Also, more options for toppings!

I am not sure on how it could be improved, I will say though that the food at my school has actually improved from what it was last year, but the quantities are less. It is a 50-50 sort of thing, the quality is a bit better, but you end up getting a bit less. School lunches are nasty though, that is why I pack as much as possible so I don't have to be one of the unfortunate many that have to buy that slop on a daily basis. The lines are super long, the food isn't all that great, and by the time you are about to sit down to eat, you have like 5 minutes left to eat. My lunch is only 25 minutes long and most of it is spent waiting in line. 

If anything, I think they should add healthy stuff to the menu like salad and whatnot, and also extend lunch time because not everyone can finish lunch in 25 minutes!
