Do you get consoles because of consoles exclusives? 

So has there ever been a console you have to buy! Because of a game you want, or just the console's designs itself? There has been a game, I wanted to get when just seeing this console release, and that was Ocarina of Time for the 3DS! When I saw this game getting a remake, I got happy and decided to buy the 3DS and get the game with it! Even though I liked the Link games a lot, BUT I mostly sucked at the actual game itself, so I had to use walkthroughs to help me during the actual game. Also another game was Scribblenauts, I loved this game when it was on the DS! But then I realised it is on Steam and got it for that instead of playing on the small DS! 

So reply to this thread ! 

Not until my 3DS XL, which I mainly bought due to me wanting to play Pokemon Y ! Other than that, though, nope.  I do not buy consoles because of console exclusives. 

Depends upon how many exclusives I want on the console. I don't ever get a console until there's at least 5 exclusives I like on the console. Currently the only exclusion are for the current Nintendo consoles and the Vita. For the Nintendo consoles, I am awaiting the newest Smash Bros. game. For the Vita, it looks like there will not be very much support for it, so i am going to wait until it is definite that the Vita will or will not receive the support it so needs before I consider throwing my money at a Vita. It is a difficult decision to make at this point.

Like TheToasterTheorist said, it depends on how many exclusives there are. I'm not going to shell out $200+ for a system that only has one console exclusive that I want. If there's five or more, THEN I consider buying the system. Also if there isn't very many, then I'll decide if I REALLY want those games before giving up on them.

It's not the main reason but it is an important one. I prefer the PlayStation over the Xbox for many reasons and one of them are the exclusives.

Not really, no. I just buy my consoles out of loyalty to Nintendo and Sony, since I've been playing them for years. I do feel that these two companies have the best exclusives by far, but that's just a happy coincidence for me. And I'm aware that "best exclusives" is all about one's preferences in games, so that comment was all about personal preference.

No not really but, my big bro does he plans on getting the ps4 beyond my disbelief I said its so much money why bother getting it? Well as I remain old school and such he grows on to getting new cool things that I am not so interested about.

No, I don't buy consoles for exclusives and particular games. I buy the console because I know there are a lot of good games for it and because it enhances my gaming experience.
I'm picky when getting games, so I only have consoles that I use regularly and games that I play often. I've minimized wasteful spending in this respect (although right now my parents do most of the spending).

I usually get what is cheapest or most convenient. If I absolutely can't live without an exclusive, I'll get a speicif console. For example, I got a 3DS specifically for playing smash bros on the go.

I buy the console when it is at a good price and not everyone is swarming around to get it, I usually wait until something has been out for a while before actually buying it. I am not going to buy it the minute it comes out because eventually I know the price will go down if I am patient. But exclusive games for a console are a nice bonus and motivate me to buy it even more, but that isn't really the entire reason behind buying it for me. 


I mainly look at a good price for that console and the good games that I am able to play for that console and that is about it. Good question. 

I specifically make a point of not doing so. You are enabling the companys by doing so. They make exclusives knowing it will persuade people to their console. While you may see this as harmless it actually screws over the consumer. Exclusive games, exclusive console dlc, exclusive regional releases, exclusive for the first year, exclusive content for each different retailer, frankly its just damn annoying. If a company wants my custom then they need to win me with their overall product, not by holding games and content hostage. I specifically avoided capcoms resident evil 6 because of their pandering to microsoft. And I will avoid pretty much all capcom games from now on (unless i obtain them for free) because they are consistently screwing the consumer over.
To that extent, i might actually just give up on consoles and stick to the pc because this is getting more ridiculous by the day.

I guess my wanting consoles and getting the consoles that I wanted was, for the most part, because of the exclusives. The PlayStation consoles have always had the games that I wanted to play, so I would always get them. Right now, I have a PS2, PSP, PS3, and PSV. I do also have Nintendo consoles though, like the DS, DS Lite, GBA SP, WII, and N64, and those are also mostly because of exclusives. Though, there is also the hardware factor, and that's another reason for me to go with the PlayStation systems, I guess. Though the Xbox systems may have better hardware than the Nintendo systems, they lack exclusives, and I mean severely lack exclusives. The few exclusives that the Xbox consoles have, I would rather stay away from, as I don't like any of them. I also think that Microsoft is rather underhanded and I guess that's another reason why I didn't side with them... okay, so maybe it isn't only because of consoles exclusives, but it is certainly one of the main reasons.
