A woman is held ransom for a Playstation.  I know video games didn't teach these guys this but the value put on entertainment can be questioned.

Anyone else see things like this happen?  This happened two days ago, by the way.

I have read this and I was like "Really", threatening someone just to get a PSP, I'm like really, like I agree with Leggy, like hey, you can just get like $50-$100 just to go buy one yourself, there, problem solve, if he wanted a PSP that bad, then he can go rob a bank or go steal a PSP from GameStop or any other video game store instead of holding a woman hostage and threatening to kill her or cause her body harm, Just for a freaking PSP.

Ok, I would understand if it was like a car, expensive jewelry, a house, or something like that, but a handheld console for $50-$100, come one man, that is just weak, for that much, you can work for like a couple weeks and then quit and you got the PSP plus a couple games, that's it.
I don't think they both deserve to get one, if they both are going to do it this way. For me, I know I want a whole lot of things really badly for like $100, for that price it's no big deal, but with this, they made it like it's a really big deal, this is just. I just don't even know on what to say about this, other than just sicken by this news, just makes me sick.

Sadly, this doesn't surprise me at all. As for the question of the value put on entertainment, it isn't just entertainment. These guys would probably have done the same thing for just about anything they wanted but couldn't afford. You don't just pull a psycho stunt like that over a handheld that you could get for cheap, without already having the mindset to do it already. I'm not saying you have to be crazy to do something like this, but there is definitely something wrong if you can pull something like this over a game. Nobody snaps like that over fifty dollars, unless there's already something going on there.

As for entertainment issues specifically, this has been going on for centuries, so Video Games, and modern emphasis on entertainment (however ridiculous), have nothing to do with it. People used to get killed for cheating at card games all the time, life threatening acts were done by daredevils, and people could literally kill someone in a ring, and get away with it, since it was one of the hazards of the 'sport'. In fact, even as far back as Rome, with the coliseum, and gladiators. It was considered perfectly acceptable to purposely kill your opponent. Let's not start on the times when prisoners were killed in front of audiences, torn apart by animals, all for the crowd's entertainment.

So basically, as sad as it is, people have had this issue with valuing their entertainment and own personal pleasures above their fellow humans lives and/or well being for as long as history can remember. It's a sad testimony to our kind, but at least we have plenty of equally good people out there. Hopefully it balances out in the end.

This is incredibly screwed up just at a moral standpoint. Seriously though, if you want to steal a PSP, there are far more easy and more logical ways to steal a PSP(not that I'm saying you should). These two guys suffer from what is known as "full retardation", there was no possible way that this hostage idea would have actually worked anyway. Just incredible.

Personally, I found this to be very entertaining and disturbing all at the same time. There's no way I (AS A GAMER!!!) will stoop so low as to resort to kidnapping just for a PSP....

Yes sadly .. many people are like this.. I agree with what leggy and Igor were saying.. you can just buy one for 50-100 dollars at game stop.. I don't understand why somebody would just do this.. it's horrible and I don't think I will ever come to grips with it.. but I just have to face the facts just like we all do and know that this is what the world is becoming. Somebody robbed a bank down the road from us and killed 1 guard and severally injured the other.. I just wonder how much they stole.. it's pathedic. I really hope there is more good than bad.. but I guess I will never know.

I've never heard of this before, but this shows you the tend in which humanity is progressing. We become so obsessed in technology that some radical people are willing to do stupid things to get it. It's sad and disgraceful.

Talk about some people being desperate. Get a freaking job and go buy one. Holding someone for a Playstation as ransom. That's really pathetic. What is wrong with people these days?
