It is a sad day in the world, as the first black President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, has passed away this evening in his home at the age of 95. This is a very sad time indeed, and I wish the best of luck to both his family and the world in this time of grief. What do you think of Mandela, and how did you react after finding out that he passed away?

It's a shame that we're seeing inspirational icons die like this, but at least he didn't die tragically. He made his life worth living, and lived for a real long time before he died. It's a shame we might never see an inspirational man like him again. RIP Nelson Mandela.

The reason I killed all of those men is because I could.
It's that simple."

RIP. The world lost a great man today. He was a champion of Civil rights and all he wanted was for everyone to be treated as equals. He's a hero for some of the things he endured for the sake of people. He lived a long life and well be remembered always.

I have heard about this news earlier today about the death of Nelson Mandela and it's really sad to hear that he has passed away, he was like the MLK of South Africa, he wanted people in the country to be treated equal and end the South African Segregation, and after his presidency, he did a whole lot more for not just South Africa, but the whole world.
RIP Nelson Mandela.

I've only ever heard of Nelson Mandela from the movie, Invictus. And man, I thought that the person Morgan Freeman portrayed in that movie was so unreal. I didn't think that there was a person like Mandela in this world.

I was proven wrong.

He's done so much for his country; he was able to forgive those who punished him for no particular reason, he was able to prove that he wasn't going to be tyrannical when he was elected for president... And this is only just based on the movie. I can only imagine what he's actually done after the Ruby World Cup of 1995(?). This might sound a little corny, but people like him gave me hope to believe in society of today.

RIP Nelson Mandela

It seems that a lot of important people are dying now and it is a real shame. Well, at least he lived a very full, long life of 95 years, that is very impressive. I agree with mistress, there is no person in this world like him. He really has done a lot and contributed to his country, he revealed that he wasn't going to be tyrannical. All he wanted was for the people of his country to be treated equally. It looks like the world is loosing great people by the day, first Paul walker and now nelson Mandela...

May he forever rest in peace... I wish his family the best.

I wasn't alive when Apartheid was in existence and it never had an official "end" date.  It just kinda wound down as people slooooooooowly grew more and more open to the idea of integration.  The volume of work done by Mandela is overwhelming and he is truly a wonderful character in history that set South Africa to rights.

Take the time to read something about him today, even as little as a Wikipedia page.

I heard the news. Sad news indeed. Nelson Mandela was one of the greatest people in the history. He fought for rights, he did lot of things in order to change his country. We'll always remember this person, like many others. Martin Luther King, Gandhi... his name will remain engraved in the marble with the other icons who lived in this world.

R.I.P Nelson Mandela, you were and you'll be a honorable person forever.
