My question is whether or not you can speak a second language, and if you can write a sentence in that language that makes sense.

I'm currently trying to learn Spanish, and hopefully learn French after that.

Yes, I can speak both English and Spanish. Spanish is my native, mother language, although I know English more, since I spend most of my life in the USA. I can also read and write good in both languages. I am also currently learning Japanese, and after that I want to learn German. I can speak a bit Japanese, although I am not sure I would be able to hold a conversation, even a small one, speaking Japanese.

I think there has already been a thread asking this question, but yes I can speak a second language relatively fluid. Spanish, I am in spanish 3 now and it is really easy and I am doing well i the class. I can also speak a little bit of Italian as well, but not very fluently like I can in spanish.

So that is it for languages I can speak. I want to learn french and take it in high school. I also would like to be able to speak Japanese as well. I think I should at least be able to speak a few different languages. Good question by the way.

I know English (my main language) and I am taking Spanish for my foreign language. I have been taking Spanish for four and a half years now (half of my second grade since it was a magnet school, and apparently it taught a foreign language, and from sixth grade to now, in ninth grade).

For eight and now, ninth grade, my teachers have been really focusing on actually speaking the language, not just taking tests and quizzes. We have been getting oral projects, speaking to native speakers themselves, replying to kids in South American countries on a blog, all that lovely stuff.

As my eight grade teacher says, "No one is going to randomly come up to you and give you a test. You gotta be able to interact right away, whether or not they speak English."

I am planning on maybe taking Mandarin Chinese maybe my Junior or Senior year, just to try something new. I am also planning on taking Latin next year, since lots of people say it helps out to know Latin when taking the SAT's. Learning Latin Sophomore year I guess is a good thing.

One more thing, over the summer, I actually have been trying to catch up on some anime I missed watching. Naruto is still ongoing (lol), and I have fallen way behind on Fairy Tail. Over those few weeks, I have been watching the subbed versions, so I have been listening to a lot of Japanese. I am getting a little used to it, and can maybe say a few words, but I do actually want to learn Japanese later or something.

I can't speak a second language fluently. I am learning Chinese at school, and so far, I am doing pretty decent. Also, I am learning Japanese online and kind of self taught. I am able to understand a few words and even speak it a little.

I have been forced to learn other languages in school, like this one, so yes I can. Besides Finnish I can speak English, Swedish and French. In English I think I am pretty god at (you be the judge). Swedish I can at least read but not speak so much and in French I am really bad.

My native language is Spanish, I work at the airport, I speak English fluently and write also as well. I don't why but when I go to USA, I get pretty nervous and it's difficult to me speak it

I know a few words in French also, but just a little bit.

for those people who are studying Spanish, if you need some help, just ask me ok?

I speak Romanian fluently. Actually, Romanian is my first language, since my parents use that in the house a lot, but living in the US and prolonged use of English has made English my *dominant* language. I can write in Romanian too, but nowhere near with the proficiency and precision I do in English- I think I spell about as well as my eleven-year-old cousin living in Romania right now.

Nein. Well, I can't to a degree. I am taking German, but my teacher doesn't know HOW to teach, so I can;t really speak it very well. So, I would say 1 and 1/10

I can't speak a second language fully, whatsoever. I know a handful of French, but that's all I can speak in parts of sentences. English is the only thing going.

Yes, I can ! English is my first, Arabic is my second, and French is my third ^^! I speak English fluently, French okay, Arabic okay, but I understand Arabic much more than I speak. So Arabic is my second, not French.

English is my only fluent languages, but I've had courses in more or less six other languages over the years. My second best speaking language is Spanish, but it's rough.

Besides my native language, German, I can also write and speak English and a little bit of French. I learned to pronounce most French words even if I don't know what they mean or haven't seen them before. I'm relatively good in remembering vocabulary of languages and I really enjoy that.

Also, I can read and write Japanese katakana, which is mainly used for transcripting foreign words in Japanese, and form and speak a few Japanese words and sentences in katakana or romaji (Japanese text transcripted to the latin alphabet). I'm planning to learn the hiragana as well. The kanji, which are the most complex Japanese characters,  mainly used for nouns and adjectives, are extremely hard if you want to learn a high amount of it, so I only know about five of them.

You wrote that we shall write a sentence in another language, so I'll just write some German here:

Abgesehen von meiner Muttersprache Deutsch, kann ich auch Englisch und ein klein wenig Französisch schreiben und sprechen.

That's the first sentence of this post translated into German. ^^
