Have you ever been stung by a bee or wasp? Do you have any stories about bees or wasps? Well this thread is the place to share them!

I have never been stung by a bee, but I do have 3 interesting stories.

This first story happened a few years ago at summer camp. I was probably around 9 and I was terrified of bees. I was chewing yellow Juicy Fruit gum and walking around. Then, a bee flew up to me and landed on my face. On the inside I was panicking, but I remembered that if you stay still bees will not sting you. I stayed as still as a statue. The bee crawled on my face and tried to get into my mouth. When it realized that it couldn't, it flew away. After, I realized that he was probably going after the gum in my mouth since bees are attracted to the color yellow.

This next story happened this past summer. I was working as a "Counselor in Training" in the same summer camp. We were supposed to sit down in the bleachers at the football stadium. There was a wasps nest there that no one saw, and one of my first graders got stung four times in the same spot by a wasp. I felt so bad for him. He cried a little, but was actually really tough and was running around again about 15 minutes later.

This third story happened two days ago. We went outside to the tennis courts for gym class. Some friends and I started a game when a group of girls asked us to switch courts with them because their court had a bunch of bees by it. Being nice, we agreed to switch. The weren't kidding their were tons of bees. I swatted one down with my tennis racket and then crushed it when it fell to the ground. Then, another one attacked me. I killed that one with the racket too. For the rest of the period, a bunch of bees kept going after me. Instead of playing tennis, I was defending myself from the bees. I wasn't able to kill anymore of them, but I managed to hold them off and leave without getting stung even once.

So do you have any interesting experiences with bees or wasps?

No actually I do not have any experiences with bees or wasps, at least not interesting ones like you have here. I hate it when they get near me or buzz around me, the main thing is, (that most kids don't really follow, instead they scream and swat around like fools) is to remain calm and stay still because swatting at them will only make them sting you.

Only thing is, that during the summertime while riding the bus, a wasp or a bee might fly through one of the windows and fly around, I hate when that happens because everyone acts like a doofus about it, the girls have their high pitched screams and guys try and swat at it like morons. All you really have to do is roll down a window and it is gone, not a big deal.

Thankfully I have never been stung by either one f them in my 15 years of living. I feel bad for those who are extremely allergic to them though, that is pretty dangerous and lethal if one comes near them or stings them.

Interesting thread question by the way, you had some pretty unique experiences with wasps and bees.

Because of my previous experience with bees and wasps, I now have apiphobia. Yes, I can be outside in the spring and summer, but i'm always a bit nervous, and I can't stand it when there's one following me around. I'm fine if one's minding its own business pollinating a flower a few feet away, though. But if one is specifically focused on me, I go ballistic.

One such time was when I was standing outside the local movie theater, and a bumblebee took a particular interest in me, following me everywhere. I finally snapped and bolted across the parking lot screaming.

The reason for my fear is that when I was three, I was crawling under the bleachers at my older cousin's baseball game. I saw a beehive, and the next thing I remember is that my arm felt like it was on fire. It hurt for days.

Yeah, I've had a few.

My first time, I was playing with one of my friends, hitting a ball with a baseball bat, like usual. Well, he home runs a HUGE bee, and seemed like nothing happened. Well, I, obviously, went and smashed a honeybee, which have those attractie-hormone-thingies that attract other bees. I was killing bees, getting stung a lot. My friend was smashing them too, but ultimately, I was the one who smashed in numbers.

Second was when I was around 11. I was getting angry at someone, and I picked up a stone and threw it at them. Well, due to my arm being strong and his dodging skills, he jumped out of my way, and, guess what? It smashed a beehive. Hard. I was stung so much, I fell to the floor. I recall I was actually taken to the doctor's afterwards due to my injuries, haha. (at least the other kid got stung too)

That's about it. Not many, but the injuries made up for it.

goodboy : I think the "attractie-hormone-thingies" might have been why the bees wouldn't leave me alone either.

And you kind of deserve the second one. Why would you throw A ROCK at someone? Seems a little extreme, don't you think?

tgags123 :

Probably. It gets annoying.

And I did not deserve it, trust me. That kid was a jerk to me, and everyone else. I won't turn this thread into a rant, but I will say, he genuinely deserved a rock in the face.

The more awkward the situation is, the more likely you'll remember it. That's why I remember about this situation ALL the way back in pre-school.

I was in the playground, and there was a huge bees nest by the corner of the playground. Mainly, all I did on the playground was practice sliding down the pole like a fireman. I used to be afraid of the pole, since I was afraid of heights.

So there's me just sliding down the pole. The teacher starts to call us back inside, so I go through this big tube (it was literally a big tube, I do not even know what purpose it has in entertaining little toddlers like me back then). As I do, a slightly big cloud of bees follows me in...

?!?!?!?!?

Why were they following me? I start running around like a maniac (I am serious), and some of my friends start running around with me. I don't even know why, they were just running. Lol.

So after a while, the cloud splits, and swarms all over the place. Two huge bees start zipping past all of us...one moment it's here, another moment it is on someone's sandwich.

Fortunately, I never got stung by a bee (yet), but I get bitten by mosquitoes much too much.

I have got a little experience of being stung by a bee, a few days ago, I was walking on my patio barefooted and didn't really seen a bee on the floor when I was walking, and all of a sudden, I stepped onto it and I felt a really sharp needle that stabbed right on the bottom of my foot and I didn't know what it was and I looked and I seen it was a bee I stepped on, and that was the first time I got stung by a bee in 6 years (since 2007).

Ohh yes . Once when I was smaller ( But still wise for my age ) me and my little brother saw a hive of bees in a building block . I warned my brother against bothering the insects but he ; being the stubborn adventurous person that he be ; bothered the bees . I of course was at a safe distance and could bet away if I saw a threat but he was up close and got stung in the forehead . I remember the opportunity to say the well anticipated " I told you so " but I didn't .  Felt sorry for the little guy

Not yet have I been stung by a bee, but I'm scared it will happen. I am allergic to mosquito bites, meaning the chances are high I'm allergic to bees and wasps as well. And I've read being allergic to them can turn into death if it's really serious. So yeah, I'm very scared of them.

As a kid walking outside barefoot I would step on one maybe once summer by accident. Ofcource it would hurt and I would spend the next hour or so with my foot in a bucket of cold water but I never started to fear them that much.

My mother was stung in the mouth once when she was riding her bike from work back to home she hit one at great speed. When she got home she ran straight to the faucet holding her mouth and ran cold water for five minutes before she could even speak to me what had happened. That was kind of scary.

I was lucky as a kid, I have only ever been stung once. Me and my family were at a small water park when I was 13 and I ran across the grass to get to a water slide and felt a sharp pain in my foot. I hobbled over to a table and checked and sure enough a quickly dying bee had stung me. I panicked cause I knew my mom was allergic and we didn't know if I was. Long story short I am allergic, I had to dig out the stinger myself and hobble over to my grandmother who called for help and gave me ice for the swelling. It was pretty bad, real scary thing is the park was packed and there were a lot of people who could have helped me sooner but didn't.

tgags123 : I have a story to share..

Alright, right after school, there was huge amounts of bees.. Hundreds of them.. Maybe thousands.. They were scattered all over the place. My friend said " Take a look.. ._." So I looked and I nearly got stung by a bee which was horrible.. Then they were surrounding my friend because he was holding a sandwich with honey in it! He got a few stings, but my friend was alright later, :/.

That was a 100% true story and I'm not lying. He was literally holding a sandwich with honey in it.. :p

I feel bad for you friend..

He got a few stings, but my friend was alright later, :/.

That was a 100% true story and I'm not lying. He was literally holding a sandwich with honey in it.. :p

I feel bad for you friend..

I have not had many bad experience with bees and wasps except for them getting too close for comfort. I've found a wasp or two in the shower before but it only takes a few seconds to wash them down the drain. They do look scary, I admit. Truly, they aren't the scariest of bugs for me (spiders and other crawlers that burrow in human skin are).

I was over a friends house when I was 10 or so, and they had this HUGE playset, treehouse, thing. I said " Hey! Why don't we go in there and run around!" So already this was a bad idea considering the play thing was wood, and it was July, but I went in anyways. I climbed up a ladder into the thing, and I shouted for my friend to join in, and he said he wasn't supposed to go in there. I called him a chicken and I went back down the ladder. I must of stepped on that step the wrong way or something, cause it really stirred this huge bees nest and I got stung. I jumped off the ladder and ran into the house and started crying.

Another time, I was like, 3, in the summer in a pool. I was holding a hose and I said " Hey! Why don't I water the plants!"  So I held the hose in front of some bushes, and I had no idea there was a nest there, and I shot the hose RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF THE NEST. Those wasps were ticked to all get out because three came at me at once and stung me twice in the leg, and once in the arm. I was screaming! And my parents sprayed everything around the backyard with wasp killer.
