Before I start this, I want to say that it is not necessary to post here and tell me or anyone else that I or we should have copy/pasted. Seriously, that won't help anything.

I was feeling particularly inspired to make a gigantic post. The last time I checked it was nearing 1300 words. I was actually writing the first chapter of a really cool series that I wanted to see through until the end and it would have been in the Stories/Simulation/Art forum. I had just finished the 2nd rewrite and was absolutely in love with the way it flowed and the wording when I thought of a partial name for my first chapter. I clicked the Description box and typed the half name and was thinking of what the rest should be. While thinking, I decided to go ahead and select Stories from the Thread Sub Forum options. I thought I clicked back on the Description and decided to backspace over part of the partial name.

THE ENTIRE THING INSTANTLY DISAPPEARED!

Exclaimations of rage were followed by a sudden depression. In all honesty, that story is probably not going to happen now. I'm now filled with a sense of pointlessness. I don't want to rewrite it again, I had it the way that I wanted it but it's over now.

Ever have something like this happen to you? This is the place to vent about it or reminisce about what a great post it would have been. 

OH MY GOODNESS YES!!! I did that just two days ago! It was probably one of the best things I've written in a while, and I was sooo in love with it! I was amazed by my own writing and eager to share a new story I was starting. Hit the backspace button when I thought I had clicked in the title box and 'poof'! It was gone! I wanted to cry, and I absolutely could NOT motivate myself to start over. I don't even think I could replicate anything like it again.

Really, it happens to me all too often... you'd think I'd learn by now. I don't do it AS often as I used to, but I still do it way too much.

It wasn't the story you were writing due to our conversations, was it? I love your way with words and I will be really sad at that loss....

EDIT:  By the way, what browser do you use?  I know an installment that will keep that from happening to you by recovering lost forms.  It's amazing! I've just been too busy to put it on my new machine.   There's a firefox version and a Chrome version.

Singelli : If I submitted the story that we talked about before, I would consider it cheating because it's so long and not finished. No, this one was better. It was a detective story called The Game With No Rules. btw - Singelli needs a snub nosed .38. Oh, that reference has no meaning now...

As for the reference... I was a little confused and stopped moving forward through your post.  "A snub nosed....."  Then I kept reading and had a good laugh. XD

As for the link, I'll look for it when I get home. I'm glad you asked for it, because now I'll feel obligated to find it, and I'll put it on my own machine. I am going to be soooo relieved not to worry about losing my posts anymore...

If you want to try and find it before I get home, it's called "Lazarus", I believe.

phantom, you have to save your work. During the TDV Vizzed goes down a lot because of what David has with Hostgater, it can't support the site.

That's what happened to me when I posted a review on Tetris, I posted like a nearly 1,300 word review, and when I posted it, I lost all those words and like a second after it was posted, the site suddenly went down for an hour, so that's why in future reviews after that happened, after I type it all, I select everything I typed and copy it just in cast the site goes down again and I happen to lost everything, the same thing almost happened with the Pitfall: Mayan Adventure review I did, lucky I refreshed the TdV scoreboard and it was down and avoided a deja vu.

Hey buddy... guess what?  Never lose your stuff again. XD

Wow...I actually feel sorry for you guys. I have never lost any posts before. Then again, I rarely type posts that are over 100 words, and I never reached a thousand...So I don't have any to share...I hope it doesn't happen to you again.

JediDeath : When you make a new thread, there is an option to add a custom Thread Icon. I just did a Google image search for "tombstone icon" There are some results that have the translucent background (checkerboard). Copy the image url and paste it into the custom Thread Icon box. (Be sure and preview the thread before submitting it to make sure the icon looks OK.) Note: Barathemos was right, your question was off topic and should have been asked in a profile comment or PM. No harm done but now you know. 

Barathemos : Even with Singelli's link, I will be copy/pasting from Word from here on out. I'm tired of learning this lesson over and over again!

I was about to review a game once I Nearly Had it finished I was at around 1500 or more words.


I hit backspace trying to format it. but it went the other way and erased all my work D:.

I remember creating several reviews before, and then I see them in the new posts page. A few minutes later, it is all gone and pushed out of the new posts page. And my reviews would barely get any replies... sadly...

I find it best to write large posts in Microsoft Word or a similar program, then copy/paste it into Vizzed.  I do it with stories and poetry I write too.  I've had this happen too much to let it happen again.

I have had new posts accidentally erased a few times before. The majority of them were unfinished game reviews that because that happened, I didn't want to re-write it again for a while because I have terrible patience and I hate having my hard work go to waste. I always get very mad and frustrated and one time I got so mad I banged my fists on my keyboard!
