I would personally have to say Gen I was my most favorite. Out of all the pokemon games I played growing up, none of them really had that awesome feeling of pokemon Yellow when that came out. It was the closest thing to the Ash Ketchum aspect but it was more like the manga they had for pokemon. But Gen I had some of the best pokemon that got the ball rolling in the first place. I do really love the other generations, excluding diamond and pearl/black and white but as the new gens came out the pokemon got better and the story with each one became interesting. 

After Gen III it just..fizzled out for me. I'll be honest, pokemon just sucks at this point, at least in my eyes. I'm just not a fan of the pokemon designs or...these mega evolution things. They're making pokemon more complex than it needs to be I think. But that's all personal opinion and all that. So I will stay with Gen I and my beloved Yellow version.

However, the 6th Gen Pokémon aren't as bad as I was expecting them to be. Of course, every generation has some odd Pokémon designs. Gen 6 has a sword Pokémon and also one that looks like a key ring. My favorite is generation 3 because to me, Pokemon Emerald was a stepping stone for the games to continue on the ds. I don't think they would have continued if Emerald did not perform so well.

Has to be Gen 2 but with 3rd gen Pokemon (at least I think that's what it is.) Loved Fire Red best Pokemon game ever. This vid kinda explains why I wasn't too fond of Emerald.

Currently, I would have to say 6 just because it looks so awesome. Before this generation, I would go with generation 2 because Gold was the first game I have ever played, and it is still my favorite of them all.

My favorite Pokemon are the ones from generation 1, but for overall gameplay, I liked generation 4. The stuff they've added in Pokemon X and Y though looks amazing though. I haven't played them yet, but I imagine that I'll really like them when I do.

Well i said this before and i will say it again. Gen 3 is the best Gen ever.

Good pokemon. Ex: blaziken, metagross, salamence, gardevoir.

Good bad guys. Team magma and aqua/
Good rivals and gym leaders and a very nice world that is easy to travel and not really annoying to back track through.

I agree with zander in the aspect that pokemon emerald, or just generation 3 in general was a pretty awesome generation of pokemon and it led to more awesome pokemon games. I also like the pokemon in that generation, sceptile, swampert and blaziken are all awesome. I also like 2nd generation as well, but even though it is pretty close, I would have to say that between the two, I would pick gen. 3 as my favorite, it is just awesome and the pokemon from that generation were just really cool in my opinion, so that is why I picked 3rd gen.

I must say, I grew up playing Generation III, and so it will always have a place in my heart. 

I have been looking at the recently released Pokemon games, X and Y, B/W 2...not such a huge fan of them actually. However, I would totally say that I am hooked on X and Y. It is just really unique and new, and not to forget, I LOVE the sound track. The game seems a bit easier to train Pokemon and such, but I feel that is balanced by all the fights you have to go through, since I think there are much more than in a regular Pokemon game. 

I'd really like to play X/Y sometime and experience Generation XI myself.

I will have to say that my favorite is Generation one, nothing beats the original. I might think differently when I rewatch the whole show. The first season was what started the Pokemon love for me, since I was hooked on it when the whole series was released. Watched the new episode for the X/Y season, and it really does look promising. So my opinion might change. For now the original generation is superior for me.

I gave it 2 weeks now, so I have updated it to have Gen VI.  and I still say III is the best but VI make a close second tide for second with Gen I.

I'm more of a fan of gen III. Not only did they make cool video games such as emerald, sapphire and ruby but they remade Pokemon Red and Blue ! I am a total fan of fire red and leaf green. Gen I and II are okay but the change for the gameboy color graphics to the GBA graphics were just amazing!

I'd say gen 3. Not by the Hoenn region alone, but the new features and stuff added in them. I do think that the 387 (?) pokemon then were the best. Gen 4 kind of ruined the pokemon list.
