For some reason, I've nearly always despised hot dogs. I can't even begin to imagine what they are -truly- made of and any time I try to, I can only think of really disgusting, fowl things. I guess I don't mind them all that much if they are grilled, but boiled or microwaved is just .... ew. I can hardly even enjoy a grilled one unless it's in a bun and smothered with other things. (For example, I do adore Sonic's Chicago Dogs.)

However, I have absolutely no problem with sausages. I don't really enjoy breakfast sausage, but I can eat most other sausages just fine. I can eat them plain, in sauerkraut, on a bun, or even dipped in a condiment. I love hot links, spicy sausages, or plain sausages.

Is there anyone else who prefers one over the other?

But, if I have to, I'll go with sausage. It's a bit more practical, and you don't have to really have a bun. You can do a bit more, like coat it with something without the bread. Or you can keep it plain. If you keep a hot dog plain, it tastes... bad.

My dad's from the South, so he really tries to bring some of that culture into the household, which means a lot of sausage! 

Don't get me wrong, I really like hot dogs, but  I have grown up with sausage, and I do like sausage myself. And as goodboy stated earlier, you don't need a bun to eat a sausage.

I like hot dogs a lot and I also like sausage links for breakfast, but if I had to choose one over the other, I would go with hot dogs, I eat the beefy frank ones and they are delicious. I think hot dogs are awesome. I like this kind because they are just more flavorful and good. Not to say I don't like sausages because they are really good too. But if I had to choose, I would go with hot dogs   over sausages. This was a tough choice for me since they are both really good, but I think I made the right choice.
