Some people like to destroy broken or bad games.

I have a different mentality of this though.
I don't mind when someone destroys a game they own but I will not and can not come down to destroying one of my games I own no matter the condition or how much fun the game is. The reason for this is the game is a piece of history and I want to preserve it even if it is a bad game or is broken. Another reason I don't destroy a game is because someone's hard work and effort over months, years, or even weeks went into this game for someone like me to enjoy. I would never destroy a gift someone gave me just because it sucks or is broken I cherish it.

So I hope this changes your mind on destroying games. if you feel like you had a change of heart tell me below in a post. I would really like to hear others opinions on this.

I agree with you. I would never destroy any game I have. If it was completely horrible I would still keep it. Mainly to preserve it, to warn future generations of the game's terribleness.

I would never destroy anything I own, much less a game. Maybe there's just a tiny chance that I can, or someone else can, fix it, or even exchange it for something better or the same.

It's a waste of money. yeah, it's broken, so what use and/or value does it have? Hey, you gotta be resourceful. Maybe your PS2 game disk is broken? You can use the shards as some sort of knife or cutting item in case you are camping.

I destroyed a game once.  I came to regret the decision later, however.  I think that some games are terrible, such as GTA and Mortal Kombat, and should be destroyed, not played.  Some games like Halo and Rayman Origins are kind of on the border, and could be good if played with good friends.  Other games are fantastically good in pretty much every way, such as Crashmo/Pushmo and Professor Layton.  Every game you play has an effect on you, so it is important to make good choices.  I wouldn't play GTA (despite the amazing gameplay and graphics) because of its story and shocking violence/language/porn, etc.  I might play Halo with some friends as long as it was kept controlled and safe (AKA, not shouting DIE DIE DIE! at the screen all the time lol )  I've found that playing Rayman Origins with my brother can make us somewhat contentious if we aren't careful.  Sometimes it's in good fun, but it can go too far.  I think that in general it's not better to take that risk and play games that are, by default, uplifting.

Well, I don't really ever break my games or anything of mine for that matter. (Except that DS incident but that's off topic.) But I could see why some people destroy their games and have witnessed it first hand aswell, Shocked me everytime... That's actually one of the things that have left me rather disoriented at times. It just scrambles my mind which few things can actually do because I have a natural habit of keeping calm. But I could see myself  "destroying" a game or music disk if I knew it was broken completely beyond any repair or salvation just to have fun with it. But that's only if it is actually broken already and can't be buffered or fixed.

I would never destroy a game. If it's so bad that I didn't want to play it, I'd sell it so I could buy a fun game. Also, I'm sure that every game that I hate, and think is unlikable, is still enjoyed by someone. Why destroy it? I don't have to play it just because it exists. I might as well put it back out on the market, where maybe someone who actually likes it will find it.

As for broken games, I will forevermore keep my games that break, because, as you said, hunter, it's a piece of history. What if someone was given a copy of the Nintendo world championship game by a family member that won it back in the day, decided when the SNES came out that they wouldn't need the NES anymore and sold it? They'd be kicking themselves over losing tens of thousands of dollars right now.
Perhaps a little more believable is how I sold my gbc along with copies of Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow, for around ten bucks total. Now days if I still had that, I could make a few hundred off of it. So whether you sell it one day, or just keep it for collection sake, there is value even in a broken game after a while.

I'd agree with you as well. No matter how bad a game is, no matter how much mentality I have lost to it's unfairness, I'd just either put it back on the shelf, or sell it on a local Gamestop or Ebay online.

I use my old, broken games to make jewellery or flash drives. That way, they are still useful and not seen as useless.

I've never destroyed a game intentionally. If I don't like it, I let it gather dust on the shelf or give it away. Most people who break games have anger management issues.

I never even worried much about the condition of a game and I would still play it regardless in whatever condition it may be in until it has been broken which could mean that I maybe raged quit or just didn't take care of it well.
I only trash games that are fully broken I would never intentionally trash a game that is in a great condition.

I have destroyed quite a few games or CD's in the past.. mainly because I got tired of trying to fix it or it messed up on me for no reason. I haven't destroyed one in a long time and I have kept a lot of games that don't work because your right it is a thing you should cherish no matter if it's broken or not. That person worked hard and I understand where your coming from.
