Hello Everyone. This is a question for the community and variety of Vizzed Members.


So Basically I want you're take on this question: What do you Consider the term"quality post"?


For me:

I naturally consider Some post to be quality if they meet these requirements.

Via 1) The post must be a decent length Preferably like 50  or 40 words long.

Via 2) The Post Must have no errors, be spaced out properly when needed, and should always be spell checked.

Via 3) The Post Must not have unnecessary stuff added into it.  The reason I'd say that is because Sometimes,  I feel as if users would just do that to pad up their word count.

So there you have my take on what I consider the term"quality post"

To me quality post is a thing where you make your post extra good, no errors, or no bad words.

Eh, I think a quality post is a post that is on topic, has a decent word count in the post ( anywhere from 40 words and up), and the post is spell checked with no grammar or punctuation errors.

goodboy : Actually. I Have to Disagree.  Because that would Make your post even less quality. 

Now. I'm gonna explain this properly:

You see. If You type out something like a so called"Game Review".  Let's say if you submitted it, but you had a bunch of grammar errors within it.

That would Reduce quality of your post via because of these reasons:

1) lack of grammar makes a post hard to read.
2) It makes it less organized. 
3) There are a variety of members on here. Who may focus on just the errors, and not reading what you have done at hand.  so in all of that. It would probably reduce like 50% of what quality your post has been.

Sure truth is one thing that comes to mind when making post, but Spell checking and grammar does play a Important role in keep your posting high quality.

I agree.  The quality of the post. Should also obey site rules.

I consider quality posts to be at least 20 words long, be on topic with the thread, and not have unnecessary stuff added into it for larger word count, like you said.

I understand why someone might want to spam for an extra post count but can someone clarify for me what the purpose of driving up the word count would be. Is it a few extra Viz or is it so the post looks legit in the event that the post count is questioned?

See, this is where I'm in a grey area with this discussion. I almost feel like I need an example of what "unnecessary stuff" is. 

My opinion: A quality post is usually over 20 words, but the amount of words don't matter. It's about how much effort you put in and how relevant it is to the thread.

thephantombrain : Someone drives up word count to... raise their post experience,also to get extra Viz and Contribution Points for the longer posts, and also they do it to boost word per post average as well that is why people spam for word count and if you do it often it does boost those fields by a considerable amount  and can really start to add up in the long run.

I consider a quality post to be a well-crafted stick stuck in the ground.  

In seriousness now, I think that a quality post doesn't necessarily need to meet any word count.  I think some witty, cool posts can be devised with a single word.  

Also, I believe that a quality post for myself is different than someone else's quality post.  I will, in general, have no spelling errors in my posts, and will think my post through before posting.  However, some people might have time constraints or disabilities.  I understand that, since I have one myself.  I like to plenty of slack for people.  Not too much, mind you, but just enough that they won't want to make the same mistake again out of love, not because they fear my criticism.

AS long as the post is on topic and is more then 15 words, i think it is quality. But if you go on and on about the topic for no reason, that is NOT quality.

I think a post about 30+ words and on topic, has no swearing in it, etc makes a quality post. There is my point of view.

Any post that stays on topic not talks about something else and pushes the main topic to the side a good post can be short or big the size doesn't matter as long as the topic is the same all through the post it is considered quality to me.

If we're talking about regular posts, like this, then it would be anything that contributes to the topic of the thread. By contributing, I mean more than just an 'I agree' or 'I disagree'. It would have to state reasons why without sounding repetitive. It doesn't really matter if the post is short or long; after all, quality > quantity. Of course, that's just my opinion.

"Yes, I agree. You have a very good point. There isn't anything wrong with what you say. It's true that [repeats whatever thread owner stated]. I like that way you think. This is a great opinion. Keep up the good work!"

It's probably 50 times more than what I put on the quotes. Though I haven't really seen this happen on Vizzed, it's possible since post exp can be gained just by adding in extra words.

Mistress :  Thank you for the examples of unnecessary stuff. I've been struggling a lot lately with trying to clarify that. I had been getting the feeling that I was doing it. Maybe I have a little bit, but these examples have given me a jumping off point.

Quality post for me is a post that is easy to understand and has something good to add to the discussion. As for the word count, it generally doesn't matter, but then it becomes important in forums like cafe and debate since those forums are about expressing and explaining things thoroughly. Lol, how are you going to defend your statements without making long posts?

Another quality that I'm looking for (though not as needed as the first characteristics that I've mentioned) is a post that isn't trying hard to boost its word count. It turns me off when I see a post that is constructed purely just for the sake of making it longer when you could just say it by making a shorter post.
