so, hi guys. so what's up? cool, whatever it is. so the thing today is, what is your top 5 favorite video game systems? (Sidenote: try to make them retro games. you can list 1 OR 2 non-retro game systems.)

  (I know, I know. the wii is not retro.)

1.) SNES - The 1st system I ever had and the reason I fell in love with RPG's
2.) Atari - The original game system that paved the way for us to be where we are now
3.) PlayStation - some of the greatest games of all time were made for this system
4.) Game Boy - Without this handhelds wouldn't be where they are today
5.) X BoX - this game system brought so much joy and competitive rivalry to my siblings and me that it can't be left off the list.

Smoc3 : hm. i agree. but sorry, the atari wasn't first. the odyssey was. look it up.

So here is my list I know alot if people that bother to even read this post might most likely disagree but here I go.

noahd101 : Hmmmm. Had Honestly never heard of the Odyssey! haha makes me feel dumb for listening to my big bro. He's the one who introduced me to video games and gave me my 1st system (SNES) and told me about the Atari. I wonder how come we don't have it in the Retro Game Room? I should ask Davideo7

Just wondering: Have you ever played the Odyssey? I so, What was it like?

Smoc3 : it was basically only pong, but it had these little screens you put over your tv, and it made it look like soccer, and hockey, and alot of stuff so TECHNICALLY it's a game system. don't feel dumb. here is a pic of it and no iv'e never played it. (wait it DOES have other games, i think.

Here's my top 5 (in order):

1. 3DS
2. Wii
3. N64
4. SNES
5. NES

First of all, your layout is phenomenal.
I don't know if I can say the BEST console ever, but I'll list my 5 favorite consoles.
1. SNES
Lots of influential RPGS, Super Metroid, A Link To The Past, etc.
2. N64
Paper Mario, Conker's Bad Fur Day (The first actually hilarious "adult" game), Super Smash Bros., Goldeneye, Ocarina Of Time, etc.
3. GameCube
Luigi's Mansion, Mario Party 7, Eternal Darkness, Wind Waker, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, etc.
4. Ps2
Manhunt 1 and 2, Kingdom Hearts, Hitman, Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 2-4, etc.
5. NES
All of the Mario games, Zelda, Metroid. It's amazing how much the NES started for Nintendo's 3 main franchises.
Honorable Mention: The 3DS. It's awesome. Resident Evil: Revelations is my favorite 3DS title so far.

1. Sony PlayStation - Yep. This was sort of easy for me. The Sony PlayStation was the system that got me into video games. Metal Gear Solid, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, A Bug's Life, Final Fantasy VII... I still haven't made up my mind as to what my favourite PSX game is. Like the PS2, the controller just feels great, too. The Sony PlayStation was obviously the best system in its generation.

2. NES - There are only a handful of games I finished on the NES, probably due to the fact that they were tough-as-nails. But I have so many fond memories of the games I played and beat. Such as the very first Zelda... Ah, memories. Oh, and Megaman 2 is still one of my favourite games ever. And regardless of how many times you slam the controller on the side of a table, it will absorb the punishment and laugh at you for being too scrawny to even put a dent in it. Compared to the NES, game systems of this age appear to be made of glass.

3. PlayStation 2 - The PlayStation 2 is probably the console I owned the longest. The controller is without a doubt my favourite, it's light and as such, there isn't much to break if you drop it, or throw it against a wall in a fit of rage. It also has GTA: San Andreas. So that's an instant win, if you ask me. The PlayStation 2 was known of having the best looking games in its generation, too.

4. Xbox 360 - I never was a big fan of the original Xbox. It was large, heavy, and its exclusives weren't great. Apart from Halo, of course. But I'm loving the Xbox 360 though. The controller is much better, having got rid of those awkward white and blue buttons, and having a really user-friendly online service. The Xbox 360 also has some really memorable exclusives.

5. Nintendo 64 - Nintendo 64 was a great system, with some brilliant exclusives such as Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. It's just too bad that most games that could also be played on other systems of that generation (such as the Sony PlayStation) where substantionally better. It's animation rendering was way more advanced than any other system at the time though.

5. The Nintendo GameCube - Great piece of kit and great games. I like soul calibur the most, since you can play as Link. However a cube was not the most beautiful thing they could design this over.

4. Xbox 360 - A master piece! Though it is not retro, Halo 3 was one of the greatest games I have ever encountered.

3. Game Boy Advance SP -  This was the console that got me into gaming the most. We had a playstation and game cube but I rarely got to use them because I was young and it was not mine. Later in my life I brought one of these and fell in love with this and pokemon (untill I played Black).

2. Snes - I am too young to actual own one, but from my experience on vizzed and the Wii virtual console. I love Super Mario World, it was perfect for a platformer.

1. N64 - Though like the snes I had never owned one, I had played Both the N64 Zelda games. They are what makes it my number one console.

I love seeing threads like this! I just like to see what everyone thinks is the best. For me its

1. Sega Genesis. Big surprise from the GenesisJunkie!

2. Sega Master System. The SMS is the best 8 bit console (in my opinion) and has some true classics and hidden gems.

3. Sega Game Gear. Best handheld ever made. Great graphics, awesome sound, killer games.

4. Sega CD. My favorite add on (if you don't consider it a console because its an add on, to bad i'm using it lol). Some really awesome games and some really bad fmv games that are so bad they are good. It can play CDs!!!

5. Sega 32x. Small library of games (only 34) but the games it does have are just beautiful. (Another Genesis add on.) If you have both CD and 32x you can play CD32x games.

And that is my list. If you can't tell, I am a big Sega fan.

Well, here I go...

1: The Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I loved this system, so many great and legendary games on it.

2: The Nintendo 64. Do I really need to explain this..? It's one of those 'revolutionary' consoles.

3: The Playstation 2. I don't really think it deserves to be this high on its own, but the games for it are...well, amazing!

4: The...Wii...I guess...I sort of liked it while playing it, some of the games are fun, some are terrible, and it pretty much depends on your movements(duh). Its one of those consoles.

I can't really think of my number 5. They are all bad or overrated in my opinion. So yeah...

#5.) The GameCube
This is pretty much my first ever console I physically owned which I happened to get for Christmas 2002 and I did manage to get a bunch of games for it which was great.

#4.) The PlayStation 3
The PlayStation 3, I happen to have this console for mostly one reason, GTA IV, but other than that game, I really like getting this game though

#3.) The SNES
Although my Mother is the one that owned this console, but I have manage to play a couple of games and those games is what you see in my game collection.

#2.) The PlayStation 1
The PS1, the very first console I've tried out and I have played the 2nd most games on here and it was a great console though
