Defence = Chikorita.
When it evolves it has such a high defence and is a good wall for a team!
Who cares if the first two gyms are super effective against it?
Get a geodude for petes sake!
Attack = Tepig
Emboar (Tepigs evolution) has the best attack out of all the starters.
Charizard does not suck, but he is overrated.

Here are my favorites:
Gen 1- Charmander
Gen 2- Totodile
Gen 3- Mudkip
Gen 4- Chimchar or Piplup (I don't play Gen. 4)
Gen 5- Tepig
I don't know why, but I don't ever pick grass types.

In my opinion I would have to say it's a 3 way tie with Squirtle, Charmander, and Torchic. Those three are excellent starters that are really powerful (again, that's in my opinion).

Mudkip of course because it's strong and cute. (Only my opinion)
I also like Mudkip's Evolutions: Marshtomp and Swampert.

Overall Typhlosion had to be the best starter because to me its attack usually KO'd every Pokemon I've battled Including HO-OH , which shows how good It is at battling other Pokemon.

My personal best is definitely Totodile.
My first Pokémon ever in a game and he was Always strong enough to beat every opponent in the game.
Beat the whole Elite 4 with Feraligatr.

I've only played the first two generations (so far), and my favorite Pokémon from each generation was Bulbasaur and Cyndaquil. I tried my luck with each starter from both generations but the outcome was always the best for me with those two. If I didn't get off to a good and fast start, then I suffered in the end.

But I do have to say that Charmander and Totodile were also pretty good because they both had "scratch" instead of "tackle." I always got really mad whenever tackle missed. I had to make more trips to the Pokecenter, and it was just really time consuming.

The Original '5' were my favourite; Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Pikachu and Eevee. All together it's gonna have to be Charmander.

Oh, a newbie I see. Welcome!

Probably it would have to be those awesome Mudkipz (Mudkips) because when they evolve, they are very strong and just amazing..

I also like Bulbasaur as my second favorite..

I like sceptile, blaziken and swampert. They are all awesome 3rd generation pokemon, I think if I had to choose, I would pick swampert as my favorite. It is a water- ground type and it has high attack and hp plus it learns earthquake. It has an awesome evolution too, that is why it is my favorite.
