I had an idea for a graphic hack of Bomberman (not sure which). It'd be a Mario hack and each of the characters would be Mario Characters and the Bombs would be 'Ba-Bombs', the bombs from the Mario games.

Characters:
Player 1 = Mario
Player 2 = Luigi
Player 3 = Toad
Player 4 = Princess Peach
Player 5 = Bowser or Wario

Powerups:
Bombs = Ba-Bomb
Fire = Fire Flower
Boot = Spring
Poison = Poison Mushroom

Each of the different stages could be based on various levels from the the NES and SNES Mario games.

This would just be a graphic hack (maybe an audio hack as well) and nothing more. Does this sound interesting to anyone? Would there be anyone interested in helping out?

I am definitely interested in this. But my hacking skills are zero. How could I help other than finding audio files for you?

I guess I could try editing a few Bomberman sprites to make them look like Mario sprites. This is only after which one is decided though. Also, they are called Bob-ombs.

It's a cool idea, there were several hacks of games with Mario. Bomberman would have one. In my opinion, Bowser is better than Wario for player 5.

Davideo7 : Oh, OK. I wasn't thinking in player's size, I thought in Bowser because he looks like a main character in Mario series.

I think you would need to use Wario instead of Bowser. Not sure if Yoshi would be able to work there instead, but it would be better than using Wario. I wouldn't really be able to help though. Not very skilled with hacking. And another thing, the actual name for the bombs in Mario is Bomb-ombs. Doesn't really fit the name as well though with it.

patar4097 : I think Yoshi would be in a better position to replace the Rooeys.

Are you still going to make a vizzed hacking team? If not I'm interested in making it.

earthwarrior : I'm not sure which version yet. I wanted to do NES but I don't think either of the NES Bomberman games support 5 players. I'd also like to do SNES but netplay doesn't work for everyone on SNES games. Another possibility is a TurboGrafx Bomberman but I'm not really sure how difficult it is to replace the graphics of a TG game.

So right now it's between an SNES Bomberman and a Turbo Grafx bomberman (I'm leaning toward an SNES Bomberman). If we picked a Bomberman with ride-able dinosaurs, we could turn the dinosaurs into Yoshis, which would be pretty cool.

patar4097 : Read my response to earthwarrior as to why I didn't choose Yoshi as a playable character. If we didn't go that route, than we could use Yoshi instead of Wario/Bowser.

earthwarrior : I might still put together a team. One problem though is, not many users on this site have the experience to hack. Another problem is time, it's time consuming and users would have to be committed.

I might do this hack alone or I might do it with others, I'm not sure yet. I'm not even sure on when I'll make this.

Davideo7 : I didn't say that. I said to use him as the Rooeys, which you said in that post. I'm all for Wario being in it.

Tails the Fox : Ok I didn't know what a Rooey was lol, I thought it was some weird term for bad guy lol (Wario and Bowser).

Davideo7 : I guess replacing the bad guys would be as simple as Goombas and Koopas. I'll try and come up with a Mario alternative for each of the enemies.

Davideo7 : While this is a graphic hack, will you be changing the soundtrack to Mario music?

Tails the Fox : As I mentioned in my first post, it might be an audio hack as well. It'll all depend on how difficult it is to replace the soundtrack. Since I have no experience with doing that, I have no idea how hard it is to do.

If you want I can teach people with no experience how to hack games. The only hard thing about hacking is learning how to use the tools.
