The SNES/SFC has had many great RPGs. Out of all of them, which is your favorite? For me, it is Dragon Quest V, for it's plot (chronicles the life of a boy, from when he is born to adulthood), AMAZING soundtrack, and replayability (you have a choice of your own wife and can have TONS of variety when creating a party, thanks to monster catching).

*Honorable Mentions (VERY CLOSE!): Final Fantasy VI and EarthBound.*

Starman_Deluxe :  Well if I don't count what I couldn't play growing up( I'm from US) then it's pretty easy to narrow it down for me. Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3 (VI), and Lufia 2. Of those choices I would have to go with Final Fantasy 3 (VI). Great story, characters, bad guys, music, everything.

If I was including everything I could easily throw in Dragon Quest V and VI, Tales of Phantasia  and Seiken Densetsu III. Of those I think I like Dragon Quest VI the most.

Just goes to show how awesome that era was for RPG's.

Final Fantasy 6 has always been my fave final fantasy, Tales of Phantasia comes in VERY close second for best snes rpg.  Though I've never played DQ 5, it sounds really interesting, marriage in a DQ game piques my interest... this thread was worth visiting, got something new to play because of it, thanks!

Man.
Talk about a hard question to answer.
I have only graced Final Fantasy 4 and 6 and Crono Trigger for the S.N.E.S. titles on R.P.G. games.
300 hours for only 3 completed?
Seems like I might have wasted too much time.
I loved reading the stories as I played them and I could not get enough until 1998.
After that?
I will never play another R.P.G. Again.

The best one for S.N.E.S.???

I have to go with Final Fantasy 6.

The characters were honestly the most original I have graced in a game at the time.
I say that because it is too difficult to not care about them.
Even "Shadow" ("The man that would kill his own mother for a nickel") turns into a character you care about before the game ends.
Not many games make characters like this.
So, I have to stand by Final Fantasy Six for my selection.

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

Hmm, to be honest on this one... I honestly don't know what is the best RPG for the Super Nintendo (SNES).

I mean, first off... you have amazing games like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy, but then you even have games that somewhat fit into the RPG status such as Harvest Moon.

And then you even have games like Earthbound, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Illusion of Gaia, Romancing SaGa, Secret of Mana, and many others.

To be fair and well, respectful to the system itself and the game designers... there isn't really a BEST for SNES, cause all of the games have in one way or another... been worth every second I spent on them.

Chrono Trigger has the most replay value of any SNES game, in my opinion.  It's probably my favorite SNES game, as well.
