So, for some reason, I can't edit my own posts all of a sudden. The edit button on my posts disappeared and I can't do that. Anyone know how to fix this? Help!

I remember this happening to me. Usually it fixed itself when I logged in the next day.
Maybe you can try logging off and logging back on and if that doesn't work try again tomorrow.

ooooh yeah!!!!  This was something I keep thinking is originally from newbies, and that's the only reason I didn't respond to this: The only thing I could think of was how newbies have limits.

However, I remember that this did happen to me when I wasn't a newbie.  I forgot that there IS a limit for every member.... not just newbies. It's a pretty high number, but you ARE limited on how many edits you can make in a day. So the others are right... you'll just have to wait until tomorrow.  If it MUST be done before that, you can always ask a global to do the edit for you.

Why is there an edit limit? I'd rather see someone edit than double post.

play4fun : i would try to refreesh the page or logout for a little it happen to me once but after a logout it got fixed soon after 

Singelli :   I seem to think that the limit for normal members is 7. I have edited a post 7 times and than I couldn't do it again.  

There's a limit on how many times you can edit your posts in a day and the limit is based on your powerlevel. Trusted Members can do 15 edits per a day. I suppose I can double the limit for everyone.

Surgiac : There's a few reasons. One reason is to prevent someone from going through and editing/removing all their posts. We've had a user in the past literally delete every single one of his posts and he had a lot of posts so it resulted into a lot of threads on the site not making much sense. Here's an example of a post that this user did this in:

As you can see, the result is someone looking as if they're talking to themself. We use to have a delete button which allowed users to delete their old posts. I removed that but that still wasn't good enough since a user could edit all their posts and remove the content so I added the limit.

Surgiac : Yeah there's a lot of restrictions on the board because there's always users trying to find loopholes and trying to find ways to cause as much damage as possible. The bigger the site gets, the more this becomes a problem. Fortunately the higher your powerlevel, the less restrictions you have.
