You need to do a whole lot as staff or donate a lot like mrfe said. 
And leggy won the rent davideo7 for an hour thread. They couldn't find something to do for an hour so leggy got a custom user name color. I'm pretty sure it isn't permanent. If leggy doesn't qualify for one from his time in staff you will have to be a staff for a really long time.
