My favorite anime is Hunter X Hunter. It has an awesome plot and every battle is intense (the battles are well executed and has strategies which is kinda impressive in my opinion). One more thing, nothing beats the Nen system.

*looks over at videogame, anime, and manga bookshelf* Hm...I guess my absolute favourite of all time has to be the .hack// franchise. I say 'franchise' because there is more than one anime series within it, but all of them are tied together. They're considered 'old' by now, though, so it kind of makes me sad, because old does not necessarily equal "not good any longer", and these DEFINITELY stand the test of time. 

Second fave has to be Baccano! just because it's too weird for me to not like it. XD;

My all time anime will and forever stand and be Death Note. I remember watching it every week when it was airing on Adult Swim and I watched it more than 5 times over and over again after that.

Naruto would definitely have to be my favorite, but Dragon Ball Z comes close. I also like every Pokémon season before Gen 5 due to me losing interest in the Pokémon games/show after Gen 4.

Oh my gosh- there are a lot of good ones listed already.  The only one I'd like to add is Fushigi Yugi- no one's mentioned it yet.  It's probably not in my top five, but definitely in the top 10.  If you're in the right mood, it's a great series to Spam watch, and it's all on youtube.

My favorite animes are bleach, naruto, shiki, blood c, and Sword Art Online (Yeah thats right that one gets the caps) which is my most favorite.

My favorite Anime right now is One Outs, though its either tied with or just a little ahead of my old favorite Persona 4 because its about baseball which I love and is really cool. I only watched a handful of episodes so far and even though I still love p4 to the ends of the world, I find this anime to be really good.

right now my favourite anime consist of Kuroko no basket, Akame ga kill, and Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon (oddest name I've ever heard for an anime :/), All these anime are pretty main stream I know but cant help but love em

I've decided that for right now, the top 3 are as follows.
1. Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo. I will never cease to sing its praises. It is so incredibly good that I can barely even describe it. The characters, music, art, everything just clicked. Fantastic in every regard.
2. Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. Desperately needs a third season. Which wouldn't help it much, especially considering the fact that it is No. 2 to Sakurasou, which isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
3. Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. With the knowledge of how the series ends, I decided that even with a pathetically incomplete storyline, this series is more than good enough to get No. 3.

My favourite anime, to date, is easily Death Note.
I hated the ending, however, due to its faux climax, I haven't been able to recommend it to anyone.
*SPOILER ALERT* DON'T READ ON IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED WATCHING!
The ending of Death Note: Kira/Light dying after being shot was annoying to me for many reasons. The first being, he should have been killed by another human writing his name in the death note. This would allow a sense of poetic justice into the series.
The god of death that accompanied Light for the many years he possessed a death note should have at least attempted to intervene and rescue Kira/Light.
What happened to Light/Kira's wife? Did she kill herself? Did she die? Did she just lose her memory and never be hunted by N's team?

That's a few things I found wrong with it. Another anime I personally liked is Pokémon. The series has become repetitive, sure. However, the creators still believe they're catering to the younger audience so that makes sense.  Keep Ash 10 and never let him finally become a Pokémon master.
Long story short: I love Death Note - Favourite anime to date. Amazing plot, despite the ending.
Pokémon is my next favourite anime - great story line, but a bit repetitive.

My favorite anime ever would have to be Dragonball Z. I've never gotten into an anime as much as I did with Dragonball Z. I rewatch a lot of the episodes sometimes, which is something I almost ever do with anime shows.
