I'm thinking about doing a fundraiser for the RGR Plugin on Kickstarter. It's basically a website where people can fund projects. I'm not sure if the RGR Plugin would be eligible since it already exists but it could be an opportunity to help fund the RGR Plugin in order to get more features and systems.

I might also do a fundraiser for Vizzed Flash Bash.

That would be a great idea. There's a great demand for retro things on there, it'll likely take off. RGR will probably do well, and there'd be a good chance for Flash Bash as well.

that would be great! I've seen a few things on there get a ton of money really quick over there. And you wouldn't need a ton of money to make improvements on the plugin or to get Flash Bash going.

alexanyways : At very least, one of those 2 things are likely to take off. Of course I'd probably spend a few days making the pages for those look good and I'd probably also put together a youtube video for each. The more time I put into presenting them, the more likely I would be to get people interested.

I have a bunch of features and systems I want to get added to the RGR Plugin so that list alone should excite a lot of people.

geeogree : Compared to a lot of projects on that site, my projects would be considered pretty cheap. I'd probably set a goal of like $3000 for the RGR Plugin and $4000 for the Vizzed Flash Bash. Just enough to get basically every feature that I and everyone else would want.

I think that sounds like a cool idea. Although I'm not sure exactly how that works regarding items that are already existing. Also, I would consider the possibility of further unwanted attention because of the nature of the RGR plugin.

Jordanv78 : Hmm, that is a good point with the RGR Plugin, actually both are good points. Vizzed Flash Bash should be fine though because it's not really a finished product at all, it's more of a prototype that never got finished.

Davideo7 : Yeah I mean although I would love to get more funding for the plugin to add systems/features I am kinda on the fence about whether you should put it on Kickstarter or not.

Things on Kickstarter can go really well, or they can sometimes backfire. Especially considering my original comment.

If you look at the flak the guy got for trying to fund a "sequel" of Action 52 and the people whom advertised it (Angry Video game Nerd, etc) I'm not sure if you would want to put yourself out there like that.

I'm not trying to totally be a downer about the Plugin idea, but it is something you might want to consider.

As an alternative maybe you could do some sort of fundraiser/live stream Marathon on Twitch.tv or something like that. You could give out prizes for certain levels of donations. It may be more hassle than it's worth, but it's an idea.

The flash bash I think would be perfect for Kickstarter.

I second what Jordanv78 said. The RGR is a little to questionable to be put up on a site where copyright issues have popped up for people in the pass. Unless of course there was a way to make the RGR completely unobjectionable.

The flash bash would not only be much safer, but I think would attract more people to the fundraiser.

Wow... I've never heard of Flash Bash until now but it sounds awesome... I hope you can get the needed donations for it. Also, if I can help in any way for it, let me know. I can do stuff like obtain/modifying sprites and other graphics as well as sound/music ripping/remixing. I also can technically use Flash to do stuff... but I'm no expert and don't know a lot of Action script (have made interactive sprite-based Flash movies before though).

Crazy Li : Really? I guess there's probably a lot of users who don't know about it. It was a project I funded years ago but didn't have the money to fund it's completion.

If you could do that kind of stuff, that'd be great and would save me time. I'll consider you're offer if we do get the funding to have this project continued (actually probably remade because I don't have the source for it, the coders never gave me it).

Yeah, if it's before someone's time, chances are they won't know about it :p

But yeah, I'd love to help if you get to a point where you can do the project again. I remember when I used to do stuff in Flash... it was a lot of fun getting together sprites and animating them and adding music/sound effects and whatnot. It sounds like it'd be a great project to work on and even better to experience the finished product.

I'm sure people will choose plug-in... I mean, it lets you play classic games from different famous consoles online!

yeah, the amount you would need is pretty reasonable. I saw quite a few games on there with 5,000+ donated and that was 100%+ of what they were looking for.

I see no reason why you can't get that as well.

For Vizzed Flash Bash, if I offered good enough stuff for the people who do invest money into it, more people might be willing to invest.

For example:
Invest $100+ and you get to choose a character to be added to the game
Invest $250+ and get access to a special character that only staff and $250+ donators get access to
Invest $1000+ and get access to a special character that you choose which no one else gets access to

That's cool! I think many people would at least visit due to the advertising that would get. It would be like killing 2 birds with one stone! It'd also be a good way to accomplish those goals. I'd say go ahead with it.
