Well for non stock colored systems have a red Wii. I don't remember if the purple was the normal color for the Gamecube, but I have one of those too. Had a pink Nintendo DS at one time for the wife, had to sell it for some cash

Honestly I have never much cared about what color the actual console was. It was pretty funny when Nintendo got on the bandwagon in the N64 days during the "Clear" phase. I think the one I bought to play OoT and Conkers on was clear/purple? lol

I guess I would prefer them to be matte black just so they don't show any dirt or dust as easily as a white console (or some other light color)

I honestly have no opinion on this. I just like all of my stuff to match though.
The T.V.? Is Black. D.V.D. Player? Black. The Coffee Pot? Black. See the theme? Even my Fans are Black. If I were to put my Games Back in a case and set them on the shelf instead of have them in my C.D. wallet? I would use "D.V.D." cases for them and print my own cover inserts (I still have the manuals for nearly all of them.). Yet still, they would be Black. Just to match.

As for other peoples tastes? I have no opinion on it. Whatever works. Works. Some get silly like some people did for the Computer having neon lights and a Disco Ball on the case. Seems silly till you see it in the persons house.
