I was told that the government has a cure for many cancers such as breast cancer and prostate cancer.  And that they also have a cure for Aids and many other known difficiancys and such.

Might want to consider the source that gave you the info. Answer me this, why would a government try to withhold and hide cures to some of the most dangerous, feared, and widespread diseases out there, other than to test on said "cures", Nya~?

MegaRevolution1 The thread is mainly
to discuss what we've heard not necessarily if its proven or not.

Personally I think (and many others agree) that its to keep down the population so that we have more resources for those whom are healthy.  I know it sounds messed up but I feel like its true and many agree with me.

I'm gonna have to agree with mega (). Unless the government wants people to die, there's no way that they'd withhold medicine. I don't believe that the government is that bad, though it is heading the wrong path. Anyway, no I don't.

craz232 : Te keep population from getting to large?! Not many countries would want their population stop growing. Yes maybe China, or Bangladesh, but Canada and Russia are fine with a growing population. In fact slowing a population from growing can have terrible consequences, as is seen now when baby boomers are retiring.

The only reason drugs would be held back would be money related, but how would a government make a ton of money off that? And why the government? It's the pharmaceutical companies who control medication.

They only reason a drug would be held secret after it's been tested and ready to market would be because these companies are making more money indefinitely selling drugs to treat a serious problem instead of curing it. For example, someone with cancer must take expensive chemotherapy, and then other drugs to treat the side effects; sometimes this goes on for years! The company selling the chemo and other drugs is making a long term profit. If the patient was cured, not so much.

But, in all honesty, I doubt this is happening very much. For one, imagine how much that secret would be worth? I'm sure someone would eventually get too greedy to think about the long term position of their company and just sell/market it. Secondly, if there was a cure, likely not only one company or group would discover it over time. Eventually more people of companies would discover it, meaning more chances of someone spilling the beans.

In the end, if this is happening from time to time, it's not by governments, and not for very long periods of time.

M.I.T. had a breakthrough with it's "nanobot" project and now cures many cancers in mice. (As of 2010.)
Granted it did get it's funding from the Government but Cures not reaching the public are more of a time and money issue than a Conspiracy Theorist Style Cover-Up Story.

You want the stuff tested right?

Imagine having a heart-attack every time a cellphone rings.

Point is the cures are there.
We just have to wait it out.

It will probably take about 10-20 years before they get to humanoid testing but that's only after they work the bugs out of the nanobot itself. (Lord knows how long that will take. It took them More than 10 years to develop the item after fathoming the concept.)
So, be cool.
Stay fit.
The hardest part is always the wait.
Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

Pretty sure that they have a cure for most cancers, it's just too much for the public, and if it were available, it would cause pandemonium.

In other cases, it's fairly likely.

If that's the case, then a possible reason might be that the cure itself might set off a negative effect on another condition a patient might have. In other words, the side effects may be a bigger problem than the cancer itself.

Sure, they just dont tell you little people about it instead of just milking all your moneys worth before you kick the bucket....

Well the goverment might tell you if they would, but I guess its not in the best interest of the medical corporations to let the goverments know about no such things.

In the US, about $7-10 billion is spent annually on cancer research, and about $100 billion is spent on cancer treatment. Why would the government put so much money into something "that they don't want to spend the resources on?"

And FYI the cure rate for prostate cancer if detected before its in the advanced stages is 100%

I would check where you heard this. Why would any government want to hide the cures? This sounds an awful lot like those people who always think the CIA is watching them

A few years ago, there was a vitamin that was discovered that helped cure cancer & the FDA banned it.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a lot that they are hiding from us. I mean, it's already a well-known fact that vitamin C is vital in fighting off cancer but the FDA & pharmaceutical companies don't want people to know that because they make millions off of medication & treatments every year.

I don't think that the government would do something awful like this unless it was still under testing or creating process. But it is a possibility that they could be hiding it. All in All us as citizens will probably never know this information.

Studies within the past 15-20 years have never shown Vitamin C to prevent cancer. The best any study has shown if there were any benefit that the findings were not statistically significant, and life span isn't increased. Some vitamins make cancer worse, like vitamin A and lung cancer.

I honestly think they do have cures for certain diseases, but they can't just release them to the general public half cock without seeing the full effects of the treatments.

I personally think the government found a cure for cancer a long time ago and never gave it to anyone because of how much money they make by people donating and have you noticed that no big government person has died from cancer in a long time my personal conspiracy theory

The government hides many things from us, but they definitely would NOT hide the cures for various diseases, especially Cancer and AIDS. The government can be mean sometimes, but it would be completely cold-hearted and cruel to not give us vaccines for deadly diseases.

I think that they have some possible cures to some diseases, but they are acting overly cautious about them, and won't release any news of them unless they are 100% proven to work. I think that is stupid, because if you have a cure that might work, but you don't release it, you are basically losing the chance to possibly save someone's life.
