I haven't played the new ones, so of the older ones, my favorite powerup would have to be the P-Wing from Super Mario Brothers 3. Constant flight powers? Sign me up. I cheated so many pain in the buttocks levels that way.

The feather AKA the Cape is the best and cheapest Mario powerup in history so far. I might change that to the Cat powerup later in 3D World, but right now it's just cool and you can fly past the entire level.
