What are they thinking. I also saw that they were considering Bass or Krewe. Bass was the only good one and even that one was terrible.

It seems ridiculous to me. I don't think that they would have to change the name, but like lots of NBA teams, it seems like a logo change would be needed. I don't know what they should change it to, if they are going to change it.

Totally ridiculous name. I can think of 10 different names off the top of my head that would be cooler than Pelicans. Why not New Orleans Voodoo or New Orleans Cajuns or Deltas. The city has such a wealth of history and tradition naming a (non popular) NBA team the Pelicans just spits on that. The only thing I can think of that Pelicans relate to is the movie "The Pelican Brief" was filmed there. Just sad, the name Hornets was possibly five times cooler than the Pelicans and the New Orleans Voodoo would relate 100% to the city's culture, history and mystic!! Plus how cool would Voodoo gear be? I can't believe they not only missed out on such a great sale for a struggling team but also destroyed what was left of that teams pride!!

1. Do you like the Name Change?
Even though I do not follow basketball, I think it was a dumb move. Didn't they used to be the Hornets? They should have stayed with that... I mean, come on! Pelicans are in Puget sound a lot... not New Orleans... at least to my knowledge...
2. Should They have changed the name?
No, they should not have. I am not sure that the players are very happy with it. And no happy players means no good performances. No good performances means no fans... No fans means no money. So... name change = NO MONEY!!!
3. What should they changed it to if not Pelicans?
I think they should have kept it as the Hornets. If they absolutely had to change it? They should have done something that deals with their history... New Orleans is so rich in history.

The Louisiana state bird is the Pelican. Therefore the name change makes some sense. (I live in Louisiana) It was unexpected. I don't follow the Hornets/Pelicans but I know they suck. As for what they should have been called, Jazz,  The New Orleans Jazz..

Well, Hornets are becoming extinct, that I guess I could deal with it. Also, Seattle will be the Super Sonics. I thought New Orleans could be the Jazz as they used to be.
