Ooh... good one. I think it is a tie between Battlefield 3, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 1. (haven;t played Black Ops 2 enough for it to be up there) Battlefield 3 is more realistic, but I like the game play of Black Ops, and I also like the scoring system and ranking system in Black Ops better as well.

My favorite first person shooter is probably Borderlands, but Call of Duty: Black Ops is pretty close to it.

Borderlands is more of a first person action RPG though, but it still counts.

Black Ops is really fun.

Garry's Mod or Killing Floor would have to be my favorite. You should check them both out on Steam.

Sadly, I'd say Call of Duty. I realize the bull logic the game creates but from Call of Duty 4 to Modern Warfare 3 I liked it. Modern Warfare 3 had bad multiplayer. Modern Warfare 2 is my favorite.

Halo: Reach, Halo 4, Half-Life 2, Borderlands, Dead Island, both Bioshocks and Left 4 Dead 2. Also Portals, but those are more like first person puzzles. I wish I could add Gears of War here too, but it's a 3rd person shooter.

First-person shooter is such a weird genre distinction in the first place. I mean, the only difference between a first-person shooter and a third-person shooter is the player-character's point of view. They should just be one genre; I mean, the original Resident Evil and Silent Hill are both survival-horror games, even though one is from a fixed camera perspective and the other follows you behind the back. I don't see how this is any different.

Then, why not take it a step further and say "hey, why does the fact that I happen to be shooting a gun (or some other kind of impromptu weapon, like the tools in Dead Space) make this a genre unto itself"? We already feel the need to stress the difference between Metroid Prime and other "real" FPS games, calling it a first-person "adventure", so why not just call it an adventure game? Why not just call Halo and Call of Duty action games? Minecraft takes place in the first-person, and the only thing you can shoot in that is a bow and arrows; shooting is so far remove from the main point of the game, it makes you wonder why we ever made being in first-person the basis for an entire genre.

But, I will say this much: My favorite shooter, and it's in third person, is probably a tie between Resident Evil 4 and one of the Metal Gear Solid games. My favorite first-person shooter is Metroid Prime. My favorite first-person shooter that we can all agree is part of the genre I guess would be BioShock, which I never even finished, if that tells you anything.

I'd say it's a tossup for me between the Battlefield series and the Call Of Duty series, both have really good gameplay

Definitely Battlefield 3. I don't understand how most people consider this UNDER Call of Duty. I mean, it has gravity! Gravity is good right?

Doom is by far the best first person shooter. It feels like Mario 64 with exploration, yet it feels like a shooter.

I want to say the Metroid Prime series, but that's technically not a First-Person Shooter. So it's kind of a tie between Borderlands [2] or the Halo series.

Borderlands 2 is amazing (and very frustrating at parts), but then again, Halo 4 was also amazing. Well, I do admit that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was... interesting. Very different to the one before it, and every other in the series, that's for sure.

I guess I'll go with Borderlands 2. There's just so much badassitude in that game.

I have to say BF3 is my favorite. I play it all the time on pc.

I know it is not really considered a first person shooter, and more of a survival horror game but I have to say Bioshock. It was so much fun for me, I never really like shooters that much, I enjoy them sure but I don't go out of my way to pick one up. However, Bioshock had a story and a meaning to me to go around doing what you are doing instead of being like pick up this gun and shoot these people because they are bad. There was more to it than that to me anyway, other peoples opinion are probably different.

I enjoy Battlefield. I really like the realism and amazing graphics on my PC on "Ultra" settings. I also like the bullet-drop and how you can play with 32 players on your team! Resulting in a 64 player battle only on PC!
