I hate how restaurants give you a little packet with 2 crackers.  I need at least 5 and usually 7.  I only like a little bit of broth so I require more crackers.

Frankly, I think it depends on what soup you're into. I eat all kinds of soups without crackers, but some soups are so amazing nobody would ever need crackers for it.

Get some meat to go with your soup. Bread is bad for the body anyway. It is just there to make up the difference for all the stuff you should have in your diet. (Like Meat and Veggies.)

It just depends on your tastes, some people like more crunch than other. I do not always eat crackers with soup, but if I do it ranges from 2-4, since the bowls are not all that big most of the time.
