I picked Torchic first because I always picked the Fire starter first( until Unova). Next I choose Treecko and then mudkip(For mudkip I traded it and the rest of my team to Diamond almost immediately, leaving me with a level 5 Shroomish which used to catch a new team and went through the game without my starter for the first time ever).

Torchic. Hands down torchic. Treecko's okay to use, but really doesn't get good moves until later on. And mudkip? He shall forever be the ruler of the Internet, but not my favorite. Torchic really gets the best moves and stats, making blaziken a total BEAST and my second favorite starter. It is by far the best choise and in wi-fi it has the most potential of all three.

As awesome as Mudkipz are, I always go with Torchic. My reasons are pretty much the same as FunnyFurret, statistically he is the best. Thing is, for that reason I am pretty sure that Blaziken is not allowed in tournaments due to being so good. If that has been changed let me know. The first time I played Pokemon Ruby, I chose Treecko. It was very enjoyable, and had nice stats, but unfortunately has poor moves.

I had chosen mudkip so I could eventually get an awesome Swampert and its lack of weakness. It can learn Ice beam to defeat grass types, and hydro pump to stop fire types as well. I leveled it up to like level 76 on Ruby, and it was a great pokemon, I focused on its attack since I do EV training. I love this pokemon because of its great attack and move pool, with amazing stats. I picked this pokemon and I have no regrets it is awesome.

I got Mudkip, due to its cuteness and can easily defeat the first gym leader.  I chose Torchic, It would be quite difficult to beat the first gym leader and I will have to catch other Pokémon. But if I chose Treeko, It would have been a very good choice as well.

Ruby - Mudkip
Emerald - Mudkip

Well, I'll go through all of them. Torchic starts off awesome, but once he evolves, he sucks. Why does he have to become fighting? I personally think it's a bad type to duel with fire. His stats are good, but not my favorite moveset.
Treecko is just not very good. Too much of his stats is invested into speed, and terrible defense, with not enough attack to make up for it. He can't really learn good moves on his own either.

Mudkip is the best in every category. He ends up an absolute beast when fully evolved. With great attack and defense, and great moves, and only one weakness, neither of the other starters are even close.

I picked Treeko, nicknamed it Chopper, after the character from Ace combat 5: the unsung war (or squadron leader).

I choose the most times: MUDKIP!!!! (I herd u liek Mudkipz)
Reason: Its a good Pokémon with good moves and I like its evolutions as well. (And its cute to)
I choose sometimes Treecko and Torchic.
Treecko learns at the begin not very good moves.
Its evolution learns better moves. (Leaf blade for instance)
Torchic is at the begin not so bad.
But sadly Torchic doesn't learn Flamethrower as a Blaziken. (As a Torchic at LV: 43)

For Pokémon Emerald, I've usually picked Torchic as my starter Pokémon. I've experimented and used every starter, but I love Torchic. I think Mudkip is very nice as well, seeing as it evolves into a rather strong Pokémon.
