As much as I like Sonic, I'm going with Mario on this one.  Mario has just been much more successful than the blue hedgehog since he debuted in 1981 on the arcades.

For me its an easy choice, I'm a Genesis man so I would pick sonic all day long. The Mario games for the nes and snes are not bad games but I would rather play sonic any day of the week.
