I think what Google are doing is smart. It cuts down on CPU Usage and it focuses on the things that most people do on their computers anyways. However, being a Safari user and not a Chrome user, I do think that Google should let us pick our own web browser and stuff.

That wouldn't work at all. The Chrome OS only works because Chrome is specifically built in such a way that you can do this. Also, I'm fairly certain that Apple doesn't make a release of Safari for Linux (Which is basically what Chrome OS is) so you'd be out of luck anyway.

Anyway, no, I don't think I would. I actually use my computer. This is why I don't have a tablet.

No, I'm not getting the Chrome OS because it seems pretty cool, but the vizzed RGR plugin is only compatible with Windows and I'm not sure the Chrome OS really focuses on games, anyways. I'm probably going to get Windows 7 in the future but for now I'm stuck with XP.

This sounds like a terrible idea. The main issue would be for the same reason that I don't have a Mac. The sheer incompatibility of so many commonly used programs is rediculous. Chrome OS likely cannot play many games.

I'm not a big fan of Google or Microsoft so no for me. I noticed someone saying something about it using less cpu usage well my solution for that is Linux. Linux does not take up much hd space and it don't have a ton of stuff taking up resources. On top of all that Linux has great security, I have never in my life had a virus or any other malicious infection on Linux. The number one reason to use Linux, ITS OPEN SOURCE.

I don't think I will get it.It is a bit unfair and as someone mentioned before "the RGR plugin is only compatible with windows" that's pretty much the main reason.

Chrome OS is sort of cool but I would prefer a normal computer since you can browse the web and do other things to it and I can use a phone to go on the net even though a phone isn't the best thing for web browsing.

I know how much great it would be to get one, but like pretty much what everyone said, you can't be able to use the RGR plugin, so that would be a disadvantage for the Chrome OS.

I actually own a Samsung Chromebook myself, and I can say that it is definitely a good OS for people who spend most of their computer time on the Internet, but if you need to do actual work, you should probably look elsewhere. The Chromebook definitely does it's job well as an inexpensive, lightweight, stylish "Internet machine" for browsing Facebook, Youtube, etc. I use it very frequently, as I own a smartphone, but I hate using touch screens, especially when browsing the Web on one.

I'd honestly never use it as a Nexus 7 is cheaper and I'll just go get a nice bluetooth keyboard and mouse for that. (yes, you can use a mouse with Android).

And also, go google "Chromebook Pixel". It'll make you facepalm. 1.5k for a chromebook.........

Chrome OS is only a good operating system for those who generally use Google's products and casually use the Internet.

So pretty much browsing the Internet is the only good (I find) it used for. I wouldn't get it because Windows has everything I need and more. So much compatibility man...

If it is worth granting myself with Google Chrome OS, I am definitely granting myself with it. Considering this laptop is a piece of s***, it would be great to have an even greatly improved browser.

If the majority of my work on the computer was Internet based, I would get it. Since it's not, I need the full functionality of my current laptop. It's a neat idea for a birthday gift though, since most of my relatives only use the Internet for email and facebook.

I will get it and I am actually wanting it. It really looks like it could be really helpful, I just need to wait a little more in order to get it.

Over the course of the last month or two, I have been hearing a lot of bad things about Chrome OS. I was planning on getting it for my new computer, but now I’m beginning to think that it’s not worth it.

Definitely wouldn't install Chrome OS on a main computer, but I did get a Chromebook as a gift on Christmas and kinda do like its limited abilities... Though I will eventually hack Crouton onto the thing (Crouton is a full version of Ubuntu modified to run on certain versions of the Chromebook. Makes the thing more useful and works really well from what i've heard.) (small edit; was thinking about Crouton and not Chrubuntu)

Well it's a neat idea but I don't think I will be getting it. I use my laptop for other things than just the internet though if a family member was to decide to get it for me I would like to have it. It would be neat just to have a personal place for facebook and my email.

As for the price, it's around $400.  I would spend that much money for a chrome based machine. Why not put the extra $100 dollars in and get the iPad at that point.
