I'm open to all kinds of music no matter if it is rap, jazz, rock n roll, heavy metal, r&b, blues, you name it. I've listen to just about all the types of music there probably has ever been out there though some I wouldn't be caught dead listening to in public for fear of embarrassment.

Hmm interesting thread! Well my taste is not really diverse but I don't mind hearing different genres.

I am into Metal (any kid of metal nut mostly thrash metal), I also hear Skacore/Ska/Reggae, and some Techno/Electrohouse. I'm mostly into music or genres that have a great or fast beat, music that gives adrenaline, or just makes you want to get up and dance.

I'm still open to other music though, I don't mind as long as it doesn't annoy me (like that one Friday song haha) (:

I put ID3 tags in all of my MP3s for just this reason. If I want to listen to a certain genre, it is very easy to select between them. My collection contains these styles of music:

Is that diverse enough?

Although my love of music mainly falls in the punk, rock and metal categories I do still like to delve into other areas. I am a fan of some rap, Dr Dre being my favourite. I enjoy jazz, especially that of Charles Mingus and I find classical music especially relaxing. Edvard Greig and Ludwig Van Beethoven being personal favourites. 
I also used to be very into trance, hard trance and hard house and attended many dance music festivals. Nothing like some classic 90's trance to get you in the mood for a night out! 
Generic pop music though is something I could never get away with. Oh well, guess I can't like everything!

my music is vary diverse

I am very diverse in my music, my library spans from AC DC to Deadmau5, then from Dean Martin to Johnny Cash, it's a varied mix, that you shouldn't listen to on shuffle if you have any sanity.

Well, I use Slacker as my main music source, and if I tell you that my main Slacker channel has 500+ songs on it, you can probably get an idea. I love everything from classic rock to opera, with some rap, some country, some classic...there's not really a genre that i don't have a couple of songs that I like. I consider myself wonderfully eclectic when it comes to music.

I listen to the Beatles and the black eyed peas they both make great music that I love I just wish the Beatles didn't disband and yes I know why 

I avoid mainstream pop music the best I can. It makes me a little bit upset due to the lack of creativity and originality. I listen primarily to various electronic genres, but I occasionally listen to Indie Pop (opposite of mainstream pop), Rock (Such as The Police and Rush), and some very obscure stuff (any record that catches my eye in a record store). I guess you can say my musical tastes are pretty diverse compared to most people.

I love classical music, instrumental music such as movie sound tracks. Some of my favorite composers are James Horner, Howard Shore, Hanz Zimmer, and John Williams. I listen to Air1 (Christan radio station) often. I also love to listen to a bit of Pop from artist like Sarah Bareillas, Gavin Degraw and any big hair 70's and 80's bands such as Journey, Queen, Aerosmith, Kiss, Rolling Stones, etc. I grew up listening to Country and can deal listening to in now. I am also a musician and play a few instruments, so I consider my music tastes to be divers. 

I thought I might say yes, but I supouse I dont say anything at all after all. It is for the best.

Well only style of music I absolutely hate forever is contemporary r`n b.

Also I hate it when people say "oh, I listen to all kinds of music".

"Oh I dunno... Whatever is on the radio..."

I have indie,rap,romantic,rock,gothic,Jpop,pop,video game theme,metal,and country. is that diverse?

Brigand : Yeah I'm not fantastic on people saying that also, they say they like everything but the second you put on some of your music, they don't know what it is and also don't like it....

So you ask what they do like and they either say the radio thing, or list bands that everyone already likes so really their taste isn't as diverse as they seem to think.

As for what I like, it's mostly just Black/Gothic/Doom Metal, Aggrotech/Electro Industrial/Harsh EBM, 70's and 80's Street Punk, 50's Rock and Roll/Rockabilly and some Doo Wop (Love Johnny Burnett) and some 80's electronic stuff.

Some of it might be known by other people, some of it won't be....and just for some clarification, a lot of popular bands even within these genres I don't like....some I might, but not all of them.

Classical and Harpsichord music is something I also like, I might not know many artists who play the stuff, but I like some of it.

I kinda first thought of just listing the styles also, but I thought had I done that it would have also been somewhat lacking no matter what. Anyway, I am happy to see I am not the only one in the world who likes both old street punk and aggrotech/dark electro and so on.

Haha me too, there's like hardly anybody I know that likes what I like. Goes for both Internet and real life as it happens heh.

I got some of the bands I like listed on my profile somewhere too, there's a couple big name artists there..I like Gary Numan and that's about it, popular stuff doesn't really flow well with me so much.

I'll listen to anything really, besides country. I don't know.... I just can't stand it.
