A few days ago I realized that guests could play unlimited games. For the longest time, guests could only play 5 games and than they had to register to play more. So I made it so they could only play 5 games again and the amount of users registering has nearly doubled from this. Yesterday we had 500 users register which is a massive record (proof here).

I'm not sure when this glitch started to happen that started to allow users to play unlimited games but I'm glad I figured it out. Not only will we see more users signing up but we'll also probably see more users posting. This should also increase the value of Viz since guests could play endless games and users who ran out of Viz could've just logged out to continue playing endless games.

No wonder that was a record. I suppose that's a good thing that you found that out. If you didn't, the guest record could have been much higher in the future.

Wonderful news! I remember when I first joined we were allowed 3 free games than registration to continue playing.

Anyway, this will for sure make more registrations and post activity because they'll need Vizz to play games and posting is the easiest way to gain Vizz. 500 users registered within a day...that number will double daily!

YourMajestyKen : I really had it that low? Wow lol. Yeah during the summer months the daily registrations could be near 1000.

The unlimited games thing, so this is going to stay?

Because that kinda eliminates the whole "Renting" part of the disclaimer.

alexanyways : No, David made sure that was removed so guests are forced to register to use the RGR now.

I'm not sure why that glitch happened, either. This would explain the huge increase of threads in the newbie forum I've been seeing. x3

When I joined over a year ago, it was only for the games.

If I didn't have to register, I wouldn't have.

But because I was forced to, I ended up on the board.

So yeah, hopefully we keep a few.

Davideo7 : That's interesting. I'm glad you figured that out. I wondered why there was always so many guests in the RGR room and not as many people signing up.

Especially considering I've referred about 350 people to the site and I only have like 30 people who actually signed up. Seemed like a low number to me.

Either way I'm glad to see the huge jump in members. I noticed yesterday that it seemed like we had a ton. I just chalked it up to it being spring break for a lot of people.

I'm kind of have the same story as Leggy. I joined for the games and registered to play unlimited. It was actually the retro Game Room Competitions that got me into the board in the first place (which is where I found out about Battle Arena, so I posted to build my level). But if it weren't for that limit, I know I would not have any staff positions here. Maybe it was a GoDaddy tweak.

Lol well it's a good thing it's fixed, I look forward to seeing more new users.

rcarter2 : Yeah the competitions really have the possibility of getting members involved with the site and community so I'm glad we have 2 every month (and hopefully 3 starting next month).

It's probably because I wasn't here for the period in between now and back then, LOL.

Three competitions will be pretty fun. I have a question though. Will the third one be a second high score competition, a second screen shot competition, or a surprise? (If they are speed run features, I am sure you will get a lot of participation there).

septembern : The increase has been consistent since I made the updates. It's been at around 500 new users each day, with a tad increase each week.

rcarter2 : I thought I told you what it was. If not than here's what it is (prepare yourself because this is exciting). I'm adding a feature where users will be able to compete to see who can beat a game the fastest. So basically instead of taking a screenshot of your score, you'll be able to take a screenshot of the end screen of a game and be listed as beating the game. Than you'll be ranked based on how quickly you beat it and your profile will show all the games you've beat on vizzed. This will be great way to open up competition for games that don't have scores but would still be great for competition, such as Battle Kid and many other games. The 3rd competition each month will be dedicated to this.

That is very exciting. I have a couple questions about it. On the game screens, will there be ranks on who beat a game the fastest like the high score section where it? And on the profile, you said it will list all the games you have beaten. So will this be a list, or something like your list of high scores where it lists what rank you have. Either way is fine. I think it would be awesome to just have a list on my profile that shows all the games I have beaten.

rcarter2 : Yeah there will be a section just like how there's a high score section. For the profiles, it'd probably be almost exactly like how the high scores are listed on your profile, it'll show a list of games you've beat and also your rank based on time.

Something I would've liked to do but would require time would be to have a "badge" placed on someones gamer profile if they've beat the game. Basically the badge would be the sprite of the main character of the game (assuming the game has one). So for example, if you beat Super Mario Bros, you'd get a Super Mario Bros sprite placed on your profile. But like I said, that would require a lot of work because than I'd need someone to cut out a sprite for each game, but that's something that could be done in the future I suppose.

David, I have a suggestion: All the members that have not been active in... 365 days... maybe you should delete their accounts to amke more room for date for the site...

thing1 : Actually there have been a lot of members who have went inactive for more than a year and came back. Heck there's even been members who have went inactive for 3+ years and came back, Light Knight is an example of a user who did this.

There's no limit on how many users the site can have so there's no reason to delete accounts. Plus it makes the site look better if we keep them all and have a higher member count. It's also nice to have their emails on record for when I send out newsletters because newsletters have potential at bringing back some inactive users.

Davideo7 : I see where you are coming from. However, most people do not subscribe to newsletter. I, for one, am one of them. I just do not like a whole bunch of stuff in my inbox is all.
