The concept of god is one that has been debated many times.
Is there a God? What God from which religion is the right one?

No matter what you will probably encounter this debate.
You see, I once had a RME ( Religious M..( moral something? ) Education ) Teacher who was fascinated by the concept of god but in fact was very nonreligious and was more of a moral teacher. She was spoke to the class about how faith is one thing that is true and untrue.
This confused me for a while, how could one thing be true but untrue? After pondering the matter I now have my own opinion on religion and god.

God is the more complex matter of the two.
As for religion I do not like the base your life around rules and regulations.
However and almighty being is a different matter entirely.
This concept of a being that created everything seems odd but then how can you explain the unexplained?
God is more about faith. If you believe he / she / it exists then it does. Don't let anyone change your mind about that.

There is no proven fact to this question.. For me believing in god is the same as believing in spirits/ghosts/demons/angels etc, etc.
its never been proven that god does exist. Yet there are many people in this world who believe in god.
for me. I believe in god.. But for some of people god is just a creation to trick our minds.. This could be based on the fact that humans wants to be mighty and want to be better then others.
god pointed out 7 deadly sins. Which pride is one of the deadliest sins.. Yet we humans are easy to commit this..
we want to be better, richer, stronger, faster, smarter we want to be higher, we want to be more important. We want to be mightier then others of our..
we also want everything in the world.. (most of us.)
we want money, we want woman, we want grounds, we want houses, lands, slaves, food, everything you can image... this is called greed.

for I'm Muslim.. And i commit sins.. Just like any other human on this planet.
but to go back to the subject. There is no science facts that there is a god existing among us..
we people believe in the invisible on the world.. A certain  creature called god which is almighty.. To come back to the whole might and human combination.
people of the church are more often higher ranked then normal people.. This is what religion can cause..
difference in ranking while still being the same race.. For me everyone on the world has the same rights and worth.
and for me the only thing without this rule is god.
god is the only creature to be not compared with any other being in the universe.

the whole concept of religions and believing in god is just started as a thing that we humans could not explain.
we give thunder, rain, death, love, war all a name.. And a we shaped a god out of this.
these things where all things we where unable to explain to the world. So we had to make alternatives. Like a sun god, a thunder god, a god of feast or a god of love and a god of this and that..

for Muslims, yewish, and Christian people. We believe in only one god. And he created the world in 6 days. And he rested on the seventh day.
of course some of the religious stories could be made up.. But since the fact that YOU didn't live in that time period.. How are you going to explain that its a lie?..
how could we explain that the books are the truth of god.. And not the lie of humans?. This question is bothering me sometimes.. Since the start of the Christian religion the bible is rewritten and edited.. How can we still be sure that the books that we read today are still the truth? And not just edited lies of human church?.

how can we people be sure of humans not abusing god for there own sakes?.and how can we believe the books that is written by our own hands?.
i think god is not really a religion that human created.. But god is a certain feeling every human has carved in his soul.
deep inside you know there is a god.. No matter what kind of science theory you read.. Deep within us we all know that god exist. And that he created the universe and that there is only one god.. With a million personalities for my own experience i didn't believe in god to start off with.. But there where serveal things in my life who brought me the question: if god really didn't exist. Why would i not be dead by now.. With everything i already experienced.
the same question crossed my mind while thinking of that.. If god really does exist.. Why is there so much sorrow and suffering in the world?. What is the reason of our only god above /below/or with us. To let us do the things how we to it today. Without taking the controlling and to settle everything.. We all know that god give us the choice to obey or disobey. But does god really accept the Mass massacre
we cause to the world. And all the things we destroy.. Does he just give that less about the world he created?..

while asking this.. I also know that god also created everything in the universe only for the humankind. He created the universe so we can explore it.
he created animals so we could build houses with it, making cloths, food, medicine and other kind of things. This goes the same for plants.. And he created trees so we could build houses, and other things we use today he also created oil so we could make plastic and fuel and countless of other things.. He also created stones for the same purpose as animal and trees. To create houses with and other supplies we use today.
he created minerals such as metal. The same metal that he created for us to use are the name minerals that our bodies needs to survive.. Everything in this whole universe and world is in a perfect flow that god created only for us humans.. And we simply abuse it.. And god simply accept it..
isn't this a bit strange?..
oh well i'm out of inspiration. Greetings to you all, Yngwie

Personally, I'm Agnostic. I'm pretty apathetic when it comes to religion, simply because it has never played a part in my life. I won't rule out the possibility of a higher being, but I'm not entirely...I don't want to say accepting...I'm fine with people believing in God or a god, but I'm just a little...skeptic? I feel as if science does a good job at explaining most of everything, but I also realize that a lot of science are theories.

I feel like religion is more of a spiritual interpretation of our world. Just look at how differently religion is approached in different cultures. Catholicism believes in God and has a standard that they want their disciples to follow while Buddhism takes a path of self-enlightenment. I apologize if I get any of these facts wrong, I don't mean to offend anyone and their respective religions. But the diversity of religion in our world causes me to be skeptic about the existence of a god.

I find it hard for me to believe in something unless there is cold concrete proof presented in front of me, including multiple sources backing up the statement.

I believe in God. I believe that He is present in our every day lives, even if we don't know it, and I believe that I have had experiences with God because of the transformed life that I live. I also believe He protected me from a car accident that I feel like I should have died in, and I think he brought my group of friends to me where before, I never had any. So yeah... I believe.

I'm going way outside the box on this one.. Just an outsider looking in.

I should have taken actual data and wrote it down... but I didn't. So consider these to be true give or take a small percentage.

19 yrs old and older- about 70/30 in favor of no god
18 yrs old and younger - about 70/30 in favor of god

In my own opinion people arguing that their is no God(or at least the Catholic one) have had way better arguments. Although a couple of you in favor of god are right up there...

Now my inside perspective. We were not "placed" into a situation for life. Our early Solar System was chaotic and violent with over 100 planets and nearly 1,000 moon type objects going ballistic.  Earth is part of that end product. (even then life wouldn't have been possible.. Until Thea bashed into us and slowed our rotation) After that chaos, by mere chance, a giant rock "calmed down" in a orbit around a medium sized star. Not to far to freeze and not to close to burn. Amazing as that all seems it was just random chance.

I only have two questions to those involved in this thread...

If you believe in God.. Would that change if life were discovered elsewhere? (For example Europa)
If you are under 19 and said you believe in God... do you go to public school? Or a school of some religious denomination?

Yes, I do believe their is. I think that many people just dispute over what his son's purpose was, his religion, what he was set forth to do and what he looks like or who he was portrayed as. There are so many religions when it should just be one unified  religion under god, I see shows where they try to discover what the true face of Jesus looked like, and they get the shroud of Turin and use the imprints of the face left on it and they try to make a 3D computer visual model of what he looked like. It is the most accurate model ever made of him, and it was very emotional. It was so challenging for them to make a 3D model out of only 2D dimensions, they made molds, and the face imprint matched the mold perfectly. I like these kinds of shows. But yes I do believe in God, and he is always with us and watching us in our everyday life. I only believe in one God and he is our creator, I personally think polytheism is ridiculous where they have a god for everything like Yngwie said, there is only one, and the need and mythology for countless of 1000s more is unnecessary, but if that's what they believe in, then let them believe it. There should be only one unified nation under God, and not a whole bunch of broken up religions, that is just my opinion on it.

I was razed a firm christian. My parents and their parents and all relatives all firm Christians. Then when i was about 10 my dad and mom divorced and my dad quit the christian religion and just believed that you had one life to live as you choose and that devoting your life to a book of which many versions of other religions were made was absurd and a waste of your life. Me, i like my dad more. Over all i have noted that my dad is much happier and living a better, hard working life, then my mom could dream of. He is more chill and less judgmental then my mom. For myself i believe religion is a very restricting thing. I think you should have no pressure about religion till you have a better view of the world so you can make a good decision. I some-what believe in a god but i don't believe in restrictions. I think you should be able to decide for yourself weather you are going to devote your life or not. It's not something you should force somebody into. I sometimes tell myself that there is no god, but i always find myself talking to somebody (maybe myself, maybe god) when i'm in tough situations. I like to party and have fun in life. Sex is cool with me and i don't have a problem with drugs as long as they don't try to force them on me. Over all i'm a nonreligious person who is kinda figuring out were to put my beliefs.

hew that was a lot of typing and poring out my thought to a bunch of strangers. Sorry if it makes no since to you, i'm confused myself.

Razor-987 :
Polytheism was the religion of many of the cultures the defined our world.
For example where would we be without the Greeks and even cultures such as the ancient Egyptians, whom yes did fall, but set an example.

Okay I will admit it, I do not support the whole polytheism idea as a whole, but how can we deny what we have no proof for or against for that matter. The whole point is although you can question something doesn't mean you gain the right to judge a way of life for some. For example Hinduism is on of the religions that has many branches of gods making them polytheists. But if you go back and learn more about there religion you learn about them being all part of one almighty deity. This would make it more like Christianity than you would first expect, although the connection is still vague. What I am trying to say is, although it would be somewhat unbelievable, when quoted as a whole god does it become more logical? I may not believe in such faiths that go upon polytheism but I do believe in giving anyone freedom of faith.

After all to put your heart into something you love and believe in is a whole new factor of faith that I don't believe has been discussed that much or thoroughly in this thread, so I may as well mention it here. As some of you may or may not know, there are some very religious people on vizzed who enjoy there religion and have great faith in their religion. These people will trust that there religion is real and that no matter what anyone else says it will always be real to them. Which is a different topic.

By different topic, I speak hypothetically, if someone where to believe in something then It will exist since it has been believe in.
Something like this comes into physics and the many worlds theory which explains how we could have parallel worlds, which also in theory could possibly have the thing believed in. Now just saying that alone doesn't back me up much. But I have no proof for it, however without proof how can you deny something which brings me back to the first paragraph.

I want to say conclusively that if someone believes in something then it must exist somewhere but I cannot, I have no proof, but you have no proof to deny my statements... so enjoy mulling this over.

jaws123 : There is a Spell Check for a reason, you made quite a few spelling mistakes in your last post.
Razor-987 :
Polytheism was the religion of many of the cultures the defined our world.
For example where would we be without the Greeks and even cultures such as the ancient Egyptians, whom yes did fall, but set an example.

Hello There, I'm guessing I'm going to get bashed at for this quite severely but I will voice my opinion in this debate in the most polite way possible.

Is there A God? Well to be honest I don't believe there is a God its just belief.

They say God created life the universe and everything else right? Well I'm going to answer this point using my own personal beliefs because I am not siding with scientists either as they do my head in just as much as religious preachers who force there faith down your throats and in your face. I'm not saying I'm against religion and I have a catholic family. But I don't believe there is a God. If God created life then why did he create death? granted this could be answered by people saying "the world would be over populated" and along those lines, so I cant really answer that exact wording of question without having a response to try and counter act. Much like many others but they get too political and normally cause uproars so we'll knock that on the head there.

Now this is where my beliefs will upset a lot of people. People pray to God for various of reasons (example: they pray for there child to get threw cancer) but most of our problems in society are all solvable threw hard work, going to the right people or just simply time. If God existed then why would he be portrayed as this all mighty savior when he also 'created' the things we wish to be saved from? What did he just get lazy? or cant he control his own "creation?". If there was a God I could honestly say that everyone would be equal and worship the same God, but as there are so many Religions and so many Gods, That alone says enough that God is a man made belief and well polite way to put it is a story. I have never seen or heard of cave men who had done drawings of anything religiously related... The earliest form of solid religion and from where they interlink (again this is just to my knowledge) is the Egyptians. So I believe the Egyptians are the ones who created the modern religion with there Gods and there beliefs. Which then leads to the story of Moses and the Jews Exodus with Moses separating the Red Sea. I mean come on who can just magically split a whole entire sea in half to safely walk threw? Its a story which then got told to someone then someone else and generation threw generation and then this story escalated. Then you have God's son "Jesus" born from a virgin, well sorry that just means she slept with someone else and cheated on her husband. Then Jesus is a Jew who gets crucified and thus the split between Jews and Christians threw the story of Jesus Christ... I Think its safe to say God is A Man made belief for those who seek it.

So does God exist?
To be honest yes he does exist but not
the way you think I'm portraying.
God is a make belief character with moral stories
that people hold to them for comfort.
But us those who don't believe should be left
to believe what we want to without having people
trying to force religion on us. And us who don't
believe should leave people to believe in what ever
religion they seek and not try to prove it wrong.

I believe there is a god. I am Catholic and I think we all came from something and I rely more on the bible than most people do and I am living with joy especially after I pray.

Hello there!

I'm Christian. I thoroughly believe that there is a God. I don't disagree fully with Science but I strongly believe that God created this vast Universe. I don't need full hard facts to have faith in something. Faith is all you need to believe something exists!

I know that there is a God.  There has been a lot of debate as to whether science and God disagree, but I say they do not.  I believe that God follows certain laws upon which the entire universe depends on, which is why He is all-powerful.  Also, I believe that He created the Earth and stars, etc. out of matter that was already in existence, and agree with the concept that the amount of matter in the universe is constant.  However, although we do not always follow the laws of the Universe, we can change through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  This process is called repentance.  Through repentance, we can come to know our Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ more fully, and will be given the opportunity to have the same privileges they have for eternity (including living with our family) if we remain faithful.  This knowledge is what true optimism flows from.

This has been if discussion for who knows hoe long, rather if God exist or not and I am a little tied in this issue, I think so ant the same time, I highly doubt there is a God, so pretty much it depends of how people view their believes if they think he exist or not. So all and all, it's hard to say for my point of view.

I don't really believe in a single god, or even many. To me, it just doesn't make sense and there is no scientific evidence to back it up. I let people believe what they believe in (or don't believe in), so you should too.
