This is a very hard question, since the definition for a hardcore/casual gamer can be twisted. But I was to set up my own rules, I would consider myself a hardcore gamer. I do nothing on Youtube but look up game related things, I go to my garage in snowy weather (no heaters out there) just to play 3 consoles that are almost 15+ years old, and I can't go a week without going to my local used game store (Those stores that carry the old stuff, as old as the NES). So yeah, I'm a hardcore gamer.

I am probably a 'casual' gamer. I mean, I play games all the way to the end, and I usually FINISH them 100%....but I don't stress over it, and I hate stuff like "NO MAGIC CHALLENGE!" "LOW LEVEL SPEED RUN!" and I am not ashamed to cheat sometimes. It's about enjoying the game for me, so I don't really care. And I really dislike "hardcore" gamers on multi-player servers-I tried to get into it with Bioshock 2, but quickly got tired of the power gamers who lived to humiliate and put down other players. 

Plus I play games like Mario Party 3 as well as hard-core shooters, so I know a lot of gamers who would turn up their noses at me and tell me I wasn't even fit to call myself a gamer.

As for my "media interest", yes, I always look up gaming stuff on You Tube. I don't have any old consoles (I have Wii, game cube, DS, 3DS.) but when I do play games, I play them hardcore style  Note: I used a different emoticon because it's a copy paste from another board called Betaarchive I'm active on and I like their version. Just so Davideo7 knows the emoticon is the same.

It does not matter if you are a hardcore or casual  player. What is important when it comes to gaming you enjoy it. I love puzzle and challenging games. I like forming strategies and to locate the enemies weak points in order to win the game. Honestly, sometimes  I resorted to available cheats to win hehehe,

Personally, I believe that hardcore means that you play video games commonly and you spend a lot of time playing and completing them. I also like to read articles and reviews on the internet on them. That's what I was going for. I don't believe that hardcore means doing speedruns and getting 100% completion. That's..something else. I don't know what.

I personally see myself on the middle of the hard core scale. I can be very determined to beat games no matter how hard they are, I like making statergies and hope to be a LP'er when I grow older, I am really big fan of video games, and etc. But, I don't really try doing things like competitive play in pokemon, MMO's, and other things so, I am the average hardcore gamer.

It really depends on the game for me, but normally, I'm a casual gamer, but I'm a hardcore gamer in the GTA series since I play that game so many times, I can say that I'm a hardcore games for that series, but other than that, pretty much a causal gamer.
