Majoring in political science can be very, um...dense at times. Even though I love my major, my brain can only read through so many thousands of words of legal theory, news articles, and partisan debates before it needs to take a break. So I was going to log on and play some Pokemon FireRed to get my mind out of text-block for an hour or so, but the site's down for maintenance so, no luck. I decided I might as well get around to posting here and fixing up my profile then. And after writing out my bio (which is more like a video game philosophy if you care to check it out), I realized that it would actually be really nice to get to talk to some of you guys, because if there's one thing I love more than discussing politics, it's discussing classic video games.

(Though if anyone ever feels like they really just want to talk about political theory or just has a sudden urge to discuss the state of nature in Locke's theory of justice versus Hobbes', I'm all up for that too.)

Nice to meet you, amieen! It's good to see other educated people on the site. :3

Personally, I'm not into politics since it just changes all the time and always gets me confused. I'm more of a math and science person, really. But, at least it's good to know that we have one thing in common and that would be video games. x3 Besides Pokemon, what other games would you say are your favorites?

By the way, if you have any questions or concerns at all, feel free to send me or the site staff a PM and we'll answer you as soon as possible. ;3

Someone70 : Besides Pokemon, I also like Mario Bros and Donkey Kong as well as the original Kirby's Adventure, Shantae, and especially Portal (computer games can count too right?). Anyways, I think that it's awesome that you're a science and math type of person. Personally, I like quantifiable things too, which sometimes makes political science difficult for me since we have to work with nominal data and polls that can never be as empirical as you would like. But even though politics can be frustrating sometimes (okay--a lot of the time), I think you can find that politics and video games can actually have more to do with each other than you might think. For instance, I'm not sure if you've heard, but the government currently offers large tax breaks to companies in the video game industry. On one hand this sounds great. I love video games and I'm all for making it easier for those who love them too to make them. But some big businesses (and smaller ones) have just seen this as an opportunity to make a quick buck by entering the industry, churning out some games, and claiming their tax breaks. That is something that I vehemently oppose, though, as I don't want to see video gaming turned into a cheap entertainment marketing scheme for profit. As someone who also appreciates a good video game you probably have some opinions on this too, and you should be able to express your views on it. Of course, though, I'm always thinking in politics, so don't mind me too much. I understand if you really just don't like them--they can seem like hopeless chaos at times. Okay, I'll shut about politics now

Wow. You make me think of how much I can't get college out of my mind. I am currently majoring in Criminal Justice, and that just gives a glimpse at how complex politics are. One of my classes this semester is Criminal Law and Procedure, and it annoys me how repetitive the language in the text book is --much of it coming from the Model Penal Code and modern statutes! Here's my own analogy on it. "Our legislative branch is beating a dead horse even after it is rotted down to nothing but a skeleton." By the way, do not hold yourself back from sharing your political opinion on here. We have the Debate/Logic/News forum.

I really enjoyed reading your bio. I have one question. Your first sentence made me want to ask are you a Christian? I myself am a follower of Jesus, and so is David who created Vizzed.com.

As you could probably infer from my post background I came here looking for Pokemon games. But I quickly jumped into the Vizzed Board after I signed up. If you want to chat --one-on-one-- or need help feel free to send me a private message.

AuraBlaze : Sounds like you have the same textbooks as me, lol. Seriously though, I know how droll a lot of the political dogma can get being all words and not much substance (a lot like many politicians today I guess :/). Anyways, thanks for the welcome and for directing me to the debate forum. I've only started looking through it, but I think I'll really enjoy discussing current events and topics there between playing video games. Oh, and as for your question--yes, I am a Christian. I was actually worried that the first sentence of my bio seemed kind of sacrilegious, so I'm glad that it didn't come of that way after all .

I've been in similar shoes. I remember I practically panicked when I started speaking my mind here, but was greatful to see how open others were. And yeah, I saw humor in the opening sentence of your bio.
